As someone that has been in the animal health industry since 2007, I would like to offer a different product for consideration. I do not have ANY affiliation with this product, just extensive personal experience with both products.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008KHL...TMX03
The Synovi G4 offers a better "blend" that addresses more things that tend to occur within the joint and surrounding tissue than the Dasaquin.
Inflammation, free-radicals, synovial fluid production.
In all fairness, there is another Dasaquin product that is almost as comparable (primarily missing the Creatine Monohydrate which supports muscle tissue that tends to waste on older dogs) to the Synovi G4. It called Dasaquin Advanced and it is WAY more expensive than the Synovi G4 and at least 2x the price of this Dasaquin.
Again, my experience is with both products and got incredible feedback from pet owners that were using the Synovi G4, many of which had been using Dasaquin prior.
My ONLY motivation to make this post is help people pick the best product for their pet and save the human some $$$ in the process.

Based on the dosage being half, the dasuquin is actually around the same price. I have no idea on which of the minor ingredients make a bigger difference, be it the green lipped mussel in the synovi, or the "ASU" in the dasuquin.

The Dasaquin relies HEAVILY on the glucosamine/MSM blend... doesn't have much in it to modulate the inflammation and free radicals, both of which attack healthy articular cartilage AND neutralize much of the bodies ability to utilize the glucosamine and MSM.
I mentioned that the Synovi G4 had a more complete BLEND of ingredients. This includes boswellia (anti-inflammatory), turmeric (antioxidant) and creatine monohydrate (lean muscle support). The Green Lipped Muscle is a naturally occurring version of chondroitin which has a lower molecular weight allowing for better absorption and utilization.
With the Synovi G4 neutralizing all the things working against the body utilizing glucosamine and MSM, it needs less of the glucosamine and MSM to be just as, if not more, effective than the Dasaquin.
The Synovi G4 also includes a blend of Omega-3's.
Hopefully this makes sense. It's along the line of probiotics, it's the variety working together (vs a single strain) that offer the greatest benefits because there's not just one SINGULAR things going on in and around a joint, and you need to manage it the same way.
Please let me know if you have any more questions, glad to help.
I'd hate for someone to buy this, see good results, and keep them on this stuff forever as there has to be a law of diminished goods at play where you're spending the money but it's no longer needed. For example I got the cat version as my old cat stopped eating dry food. Folks in the reviews were talking about how it helped their cats mouths and teeth and stuff.
NOPE. Vet ran tests and determined he at best needed special (kidney?) food, but at worst just needed to retire eating dry food and instead go to the cans - Purina being the least expensive/most trustworthy.
So 1/2 on these types of pills.
Go to your vet please. EVERYBODY go to your vets!
