This is a great deal for those that are already using Dasaquin.

As someone that has been in the animal health industry since 2007, I would like to offer a different product for consideration. I do not have ANY affiliation with this product, just extensive personal experience with both products.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008KHL...TMX039AP4Z

The Synovi G4 offers a better "blend" that addresses more things that tend to occur within the joint and surrounding tissue than the Dasaquin.
Inflammation, free-radicals, synovial fluid production.

In all fairness, there is another Dasaquin product that is almost as comparable (primarily missing the Creatine Monohydrate which supports muscle tissue that tends to waste on older dogs) to the Synovi G4. It called Dasaquin Advanced and it is WAY more expensive than the Synovi G4 and at least 2x the price of this Dasaquin.

Again, my experience is with both products and got incredible feedback from pet owners that were using the Synovi G4, many of which had been using Dasaquin prior.

My ONLY motivation to make this post is help people pick the best product for their pet and save the human some $$$ in the process.

The product you're linking has half the amount of glucosamine / MSM compared to Dasuquin. It's also missing Chondroitin.

Based on the dosage being half, the dasuquin is actually around the same price. I have no idea on which of the minor ingredients make a bigger difference, be it the green lipped mussel in the synovi, or the "ASU" in the dasuquin.

Good question. I will try to explain.

The Dasaquin relies HEAVILY on the glucosamine/MSM blend... doesn't have much in it to modulate the inflammation and free radicals, both of which attack healthy articular cartilage AND neutralize much of the bodies ability to utilize the glucosamine and MSM.

I mentioned that the Synovi G4 had a more complete BLEND of ingredients. This includes boswellia (anti-inflammatory), turmeric (antioxidant) and creatine monohydrate (lean muscle support). The Green Lipped Muscle is a naturally occurring version of chondroitin which has a lower molecular weight allowing for better absorption and utilization.

With the Synovi G4 neutralizing all the things working against the body utilizing glucosamine and MSM, it needs less of the glucosamine and MSM to be just as, if not more, effective than the Dasaquin.

The Synovi G4 also includes a blend of Omega-3's.

Hopefully this makes sense. It's along the line of probiotics, it's the variety working together (vs a single strain) that offer the greatest benefits because there's not just one SINGULAR things going on in and around a joint, and you need to manage it the same way.

Please let me know if you have any more questions, glad to help.

Adequan. I buy box that contains two 5mL bottles. Not for pain but for issues, which over time could help prevent pain if using this.
For her dog its galliprant. 12 yo lab mix

With all the comments, I understand this is for senior dogs with joint issue. What about younger healthy dogs, is it helpful for prevention or might cause side effects?

Yeah, not sure why no love either. This is the lowest in years. My senior dog needs two chews every day so we stocked up.
From reading Amazon reviews, it seems like some people got "fake" product and their dog had adverse reactions. Some people reported some certification stamp missing. I buy mine from Chewy for piece of mind. This is a great price but I'd rather pay for piece of mind.

For those of you who use this or similar products, what things do you notice in your dogs from using this? Do they climb stairs without pain for example? I'm just looking for the cause and effect of these products. I have a 2.5 year old purebred mutt that is predominantly Malinois I think. But he has a very mixed heritage so I'm not sure what he really is. He's what is considered large, weighing 72 lbs. and is quite athletic and has good energy, which is to be expected of him of course. Is this something to give him as preventative? Or something I wait on until he's a few years older? Many thanks in advance for feedback.
I legit would spend the $40/50 and talk to your vet. I got Cous' for my puppy as his bones were growing too fast when adopted. Year later he's normal. Vet though was like "just take it for a few months and he should be good"

I'd hate for someone to buy this, see good results, and keep them on this stuff forever as there has to be a law of diminished goods at play where you're spending the money but it's no longer needed. For example I got the cat version as my old cat stopped eating dry food. Folks in the reviews were talking about how it helped their cats mouths and teeth and stuff.

NOPE. Vet ran tests and determined he at best needed special (kidney?) food, but at worst just needed to retire eating dry food and instead go to the cans - Purina being the least expensive/most trustworthy.

So 1/2 on these types of pills.

Go to your vet please. EVERYBODY go to your vets!

Anybody tried these? How do they taste? I'm getting tired of taking my glucosamine horse pills.

I seriously hope your vet didn't tell you to use Purina canned food and touted them as being the most trustworthy. If they did, then you need to RUN from that vet and find a new one asap.

This is the part where you expand upon your comment as you are a vet, correct?

I noticed that the bag makes 0 claims this stuff works for anything. That said, sounds like a lot of marketing with zero evidence of efficacy... esp at these prices.
Maybe because dogs don't talk.

Can this be given to a 1 year old Lab or is it more recommended for older dogs ?
Our mastiff had surgery just over year old (bad ACL) he started on this product and most likely will be on it rest of his life. Vet said his other real ACL could be a problem but this product should help (hopefully prevent) my total came out to 450 chews for around $110.
