The Sony X900H and the Sony X85J are very similar overall. The X85J has a higher native contrast ratio, but the X900H has a full array local dimming feature that can reduce blooming in dark scenes and improve contrast. On the other hand, the X85J has a flicker-free backlight, and the more recent Google TV interface is a bit faster than the older Android TV 9.0 interface on the X900H.

Having said that, I'll step off my soapbox and offer some actual advice. have you checked for TV measurements without stands and you could just do a wall mount?

Repair shop suggested I reach out to Sony and ask for a one time complementary replacement since it's out of warranty. I contacted support last Wednesday (9 days ago) and they escalated my case. Said a "Sony concierge" would be reaching out to me in 1-2 business days. I have yet to hear from them.
For a TV I payed over $1000 for 2.5 years ago, I'm pretty pissed at Sony.
1 - A TV mounted above a fireplace is really not ideal. A TV should be eye level from your normal seating position (roughly the center of the screen should be about eye level). If you have any other place that it will work, you should put it there.
2 - If it must go above the Fireplace, have you considered that it will have to be angled down slightly toward the seating position? I think that would get you the room you need. Most newer higher end 75 inch sets are under 78 inches, but slightly bigger than the 77 1/4 inch you have to work with. That extra half inch would most certainly be enough with the angle to fit.
