Contrary to the paragraph above, rtings own tests show the 900h is significantly better.

From rtings [rtings.com]:
The Sony X900H and the Sony X85J are very similar overall. The X85J has a higher native contrast ratio, but the X900H has a full array local dimming feature that can reduce blooming in dark scenes and improve contrast. On the other hand, the X85J has a flicker-free backlight, and the more recent Google TV interface is a bit faster than the older Android TV 9.0 interface on the X900H.

With the 900 and 950 models regularly going on sale at prices close to this, I sure don't see a deal here. In fact the 85" 900 has been cheaper than this several times in the past year, and is a much better TV.

Model is X900H in most stores, and X90CH at Costco. Here's a recent deal at 2k for reference:

In a nutshell, yes. TV manufacturers rallied around standard sizing quite a while ago now, 55, 65, 75, & 85 inches now all being the norm. Older off sizes that used to be common such as 58, 60, 70, and 72 are pretty much non existent now. Just out of curiosity, what is wrong with a 75? Not much bigger than a 70, and with virtually frameless TVs now it might be the same size as an older 70.
I have 37-1/4" from the fireplace top shelf to the ceiling and I want to put TV there. I checked few 75" thin bezel TV's specs and they had about 38" height, so I figured 70" for me is the way to go. Was aiming deals here for couple months and 70" just don't show up... I guess I'll have to go with 65".

As much as I hate to offer unsolicited advice, putting a TV above a fireplace is not ideal in general. Strongly encourage you to find another place to put it.

Having said that, I'll step off my soapbox and offer some actual advice. have you checked for TV measurements without stands and you could just do a wall mount?

Fireplace isn't that tall, but deep. And it's surrounded by couple rows of brick. Then I have about 15 inches from the fireplace to the top shelf which will separate the TV. And the shelf itself is a 2" thick concrete slab. Btw this is my original plan to use a wall mount. 75" TV has about 38" height for the frame only, not including the stand.

It doesn't... Per RTINGS: A8H = 8.8/10 vs. X85J = 7.5/10

The 2021 model X900 85" has been very scarce now for several weeks. I just caved and ordered its 2021 replacement model KD85X91CJ from Costco (same as KD85X91J non-Costco) for $2800. Free 7-year warranty from their base 2-year plus 3 year Allstate plus 2-year from paying with Costco Citi Visa. I don't know how you can buy a TV anywhere else with this warranty.
I'm a long time Costco customer, and their warranty is good, but this Allstate stuff if worrysome, in that it is a regular, run of the mail insurance company that profits from denying coverage. I don't even know if CITI is trustable with extra year warranties (since they took over the COSTCO CC portfolio from AMEX a couple years ago) Is the 7 years clearly documented by the vendor? Which insurance covers a year 6 defect? Will the user fall on the ground trying to sit on three of these 'coverage' chairs?

Yo, screw Sony. I have a late 2018 XBR-X900F that's already crapped out. Local authorized repair shop took a look at it and determined that one of the led strips was malfunctioning. Get this though, Sony DOES NOT SELL replacement LED strips. There are used strips you can buy, but no guarantee of them working. Even if you were able to find one, the part + labor was going to be $300.

Repair shop suggested I reach out to Sony and ask for a one time complementary replacement since it's out of warranty. I contacted support last Wednesday (9 days ago) and they escalated my case. Said a "Sony concierge" would be reaching out to me in 1-2 business days. I have yet to hear from them.

For a TV I payed over $1000 for 2.5 years ago, I'm pretty pissed at Sony.

I have been looking for a TV that is 44" or less to use as a computer. There is the LG 48 OLED, but it will not fit very well. The newer Sony models also have the NextGen TV tuner for 4K off-air signals once they are released in your area. Any recommendations? I am seeing all sort of mixed reviews from people and rtngs.com. I did reach out to LG regarding the announce 43" OLED TV and they could not give me a ship date. The X85J or X90J may be the best at this time.

I will give my two cents then I will shut up...

1 - A TV mounted above a fireplace is really not ideal. A TV should be eye level from your normal seating position (roughly the center of the screen should be about eye level). If you have any other place that it will work, you should put it there.

2 - If it must go above the Fireplace, have you considered that it will have to be angled down slightly toward the seating position? I think that would get you the room you need. Most newer higher end 75 inch sets are under 78 inches, but slightly bigger than the 77 1/4 inch you have to work with. That extra half inch would most certainly be enough with the angle to fit.

Additionally, if it is a working fireplace that's used frequently, the heat can significantly affect the usable life of the TV.

If it's anything like my experience, the concierge will offer to sell you a comparable replacement for a deep discount with exchange. If you buy it, they ship your replacement to you and you put your old one in the box and they send someone to pick it up.

Let us know if you get the same offer.
