There is a visual walkthrough at the end of this post. Read the instructions first. Most of the instructions is from previous Cricket deals. Please review before asking the same questions in the thread.

EXISTING Cricket Customers

Approach 1:

Note about this approach: This instructions is from a previous deal, I personally tried it and at the last step of merging two accounts after 2 months, the credits were messed up and I didn't get all of the credits from the new account. Do it at your own risk and see the second Approach further down that I personally used recently.

STEP 1
Create a new account to purchase the phone. You can self refer and both your existing and new accounts will each get $25

STEP 2
Before purchasing this device with the new email address, generate the $25 referral coupon from your existing cricket amount. (If you've reached your referral limit, can also search eBay for "cricket $25 referral code"- the FREE referral link is in the eBay item description there's no need to pay $0.99) REMEMBER sharing, advertising, or PMing referrals is a VIOLATION of SD rules!
Referrals can also be found on https://www.reddit.com/r/CricketW..._20200804/

Your referral code expires 30 days from generation- purchase and activate during this time period

STEP 3
IMMEDIATELY after activating your new phone, enter your unique referral code emailed to you in the "Everything's Better with Friends" section of the myCricket app or Cricket online website. After inputting referral code, you will see a 60-day countdown tracker in the "Everything's Better with Friends" on when your $25 credit is credited.

Downgrade immediately your plan to the $30 plan. You will get the full $30 prorated credit if you downgrade within the first day of activation.

STEP 4
After 2 months on the cricket plan, both your new and old accounts are credited each with the $25 referral. The $25 referral credit will apply on the 59th day and you will get a text notifying you of the credit. After the credit posts, 1 day before your third month is charged on your new account, call Cricket customer service to merge your new account with your old account ensuring your $25 credit from the new account is transferred/ merged with your old account and then cancel that additional line that was merged

Approach 2:

NOTE: I have personally done this approach but don't know if anybody else has tried it. So, do it at your own risk.

Purchase the phone and pay $180, immediately after activation downgrade your plan to the $30 plan. You will get the full $30 prorated credit if you downgrade within the first day of activation. Right after that merge your new account into your main account by chatting/calling Cricket customer service and during the process make sure that the $150 credits in your new account will be transferred to the main account. Finally, cancel the additional line. You will have the phone for $30 and will have $150 credits in your account.

NEW Cricket Customers

STEP 1
Before purchasing your free phone, secure a $25 referral coupon from the cricket referral program (Search eBay for "$25 cricket referral code"- the FREE referral link is in the eBay item description there's no need to pay $0.99) REMEMBER sharing, advertising, or PMing referrals is a VIOLATION of SD rules!.
Referrals can also be found on https://www.reddit.com/r/CricketW..._20200804/

Once a referral code is generated, it expires within 30 days.

If you get the error "Well that didn't work as expected!" when trying to claim a code, you need to find a new link as this person has already reached their refer limit. NOTE: I also had this "Well that didn't work as expected" error when using a VPN (Torguard) service. Turned it off and it worked fine.

STEP 2
IMMEDIATELY after activating your new phone, enter your unique referral code emailed to you in the "Everything's Better with Friends" section of the myCricket app or Cricket online website. After inputting the referral code, you will see a 60-day countdown tracker in the "Everything's Better with Friends" on when your $25 credit is credited.

Change your plan to the $30 plan. You will get the full $30 prorated credit if you downgrade within the first day of activation. You should now have 6 full months of service with the $180 you prepaid and just have to pay $5 more for an extra 7th month of service. The $25 referral credit will apply on the 59th day and you will get a text notifying you of the credit. After 6 months on Cricket, you can request your free cricket phone to be unlocked

Extra $25 "bonus" discount

Several have reported that hovering over the close button (top right of browser window) can trigger a pop-up offering either $25 or $10 bonus for the purchase. This has been seen in the shopping cart window, as well as later in the checkout process.

Most success has been reported when shopping is executed in Edge's InPrivate or Chrome's Incognito web browser sessions.

Cricket service works on ATT locked devices, but generally not the other way around.

no physical refill card will be sent

the $180 will be loaded directly onto the cricket account (you can downgrade from $60 to $30 a month if you dont need the data)

Nope, you have to pay with credit card. Cricket's ordering system strictly matches your shipping/billing and credit card addresses.

Is there a way to split payment on multiple cards? I don't see that option.
I just checked and saw chase offers for $25 back on 2 of my cards. Would certainly sweeten the deal to knock it lower by $50.

No port required here. You get 6-months service with initial cost plus phone, by downgrading to 2GB plan. If you use referral, you get almost one extra month. All for $180, with no additional effort as you described for MetroPCS.
Or stick Cricket sim into another phone for service (or merge accounts) and use SE to get 12 mini from MetroPCS, although with their CS attitude I wouldn't even bothered with it but might be different for others.

I just got onto this deal for a new service. How do I create a cricket account?
It says activate service but I do not have the phone or sim yet from cricket. Anyway to create an account before that since I want to switch the service from $60 plan to $30.

Open two accounts - one line each, with different cards. Combine after activation into one. You pay $360 instead of $330 up front but can make use of two cashback. You could technically do two referrals for each account and wait till you finish second month and then merge accounts to get another $50 ($25x2) with referral credit.

You change plan after you get the phone and activating. Not immediately after placing the order. You need the SIM at minimum for activation.

ok thanks so when I get the phone and sim in couple of days I can activate the service per the direction on cricket website which says to insert sim into phone before activating. After that I can create account, downgrade the plan as well add the referral code into the account?

Yes, that's correct. IIRC, you have thirty days to add referral code, and make sure you use the same email address to open the Cricket account where you received the referral. Just follow the steps in the correct sequence and you should be all set.

Thanks for the suggestion. However im looking for just 1 device. I could trade it to apple and use the credits another time.
Also I don't really need the service. Just until unlock is sufficient.
I was trying to apply 2 cards to the single order.

Agreed. I was assuming someone is going to keep the internet service for more than 2-years. And since xfinity mobile is on Verizon network, there should not be any issue with mobile service; $15/mo is pretty decent for low data users

Does the new sim come with the refill card or the balance for 3 months will be already loaded to the sim?

Somehow I couldn't find how to properly upgrade one of the old phone from 5 for $100 plan, without messing up that plan. Is it possible to create a new account, downgrade the plan, merge under old plan to get credits then cancel the line and still be paying $100 for 5 lines? I would just use sim from the old phone and put in iphone. What's the best workaround this deal with people who want to stay with cricket with original grandfathered plan? Appreciate it your help! Thanks.

I currently have 2 lines on cricket and would like to upgrade both phones with these Iphone SE's. Would I just have to make a new account to purchase 2 then merge that account with my current one? Also, how much in credit would I have then on my main account? thanks

If trading it to Apple, you don't even need to unlock. The phone is worth $200 now when trading it to Apple. It would be even lower later this year. If you don't necessarily need the service, what do you plan to get out of this deal?
