The code is one-time use only. Use it on any select SSD that newegg offers.

This is as cheap as it's gonna get for now. I was waiting for this particular drive to go down another $100. Thankfully, this coupon made it so I don't have to wait until the end of the year.

8TB $699.99 -> $595
4TB $360 -> $306
2TB $190 -> $161.5
1TB $100 -> $85

This is an amazing deal. I own one and use it heavily. The drive is a beast and Samsung QLC is rock solid. Forget waiting for BF, if you need storage just buy it.
Also, there's 5% cash back if you pay using PayPal with your Discover It credit card this quarter (July 1st - September 30)
That definition of NAS's purpose is new to me. I have a tiny cluster of computers using NAS for shared storage for computations and prototyping for development before moving the pipelines into the cloud that can surely use a hardware like this over the network.

What about home security systems or DVR?

Does samsung, western digital, or Seagate make any spindle drives that are sata 2.5" form factor and are 4TB+? I cannot find any and would really be a cheaper alternative for my laptop. I run the os on my nvme and store data on the spindle drive.

Absolutely they do, I have a 5TB (it is on the thicker side so it would likely not fit a lot of laptops, but I have it in my ITX desktop build)... Are they out of stock due to the chip storage?

Now that I recall, maybe I was looking for WD and Samsung ones. Looks like only Seagate with 5tb 2.5" one. Thanks!

This seems like an overkill for a NAS storage as they (NAS) are meant to mainly archive data. maybe if you're going to run a VM off it, then it would be a good investment.

Been waiting SSD to reach 8TB. At this price, I would not be surprised if hardware storage and backup manufacturers don't start to take advantage of them.

Okay. Did some more searching, apparently Seagate 5tb drives are 2.5" and THICK so it won't fit laptops. So that must be for small desktops. A measly 2tb is all I can find for laptops. What a shame

For enterprise SANs 15tb+ ssds have been out for several years they are starting to utilize qlc drives now as well for tier 2 storage

$600 for this awesomeness or a used third-rate video card?

Potentially a great nas choice as it would allow you to combine something like zfs plus parity storage for multiple levels of redundancy without the huge performance penalty you'd pay doing that with spindle storage.
