Paramount+ has a new code for new and returning subscribers for a free month trial when you apply coupon code EVIL at checkout. If you subscribed last time the deal was offered, make sure you cancel your subscription, wait until your subscription lapses and then resubscribe using this deal (assuming the code is still active at that time).

Competition is good for the consumer, if the service stinks, it will go away on it's own. If there is a monopoly they can charge you as much as they like, and you have no other choice. No one is forced to use all of the available services at once, just bounce around, taking advantage of all the deals and offers.
Sounds EVIL
I've heard many stories of people being charged, even though they canceled on time.

Normally I'm 100% with you, but we are getting a ton of mediocrity, and its going to bring back piracy. Competition is good when the quality is good, in this situation, the more competition, the lower the quality.
While I can agree that some competitors are mediocre, your reasoning just isn't based in logic that more choice in the marketplace for consumers is the cause for piracy or lower quality for those mediocre competitors. On the contrary, the more competition, the higher the quality over time because each service is competing for customers who can't and won't subscribe to all of them, and the competitors who bring an inferior service to the competition will be weeded out of the market over time.

Also, the robust competition and variety of price tiers and business models reduces piracy, as the barrier to entry is lowered for those who can't resist how much more convenient it is to stream content legitimately than to pirate it. Of course, some piracy will always exist because some people just can't or won't pay for their content, but it makes no sense to say more businesses competing with each other increases piracy.

I downloaded this app and I cant stream anything on my Hisense Android TV and my new Chromecast with Google TV. So I just cancelled my subscription. Any show/movie I just get a black screen. It streams fine on my phone though.
Seems like you could've resolved the issue with tech support, but do what you like, I guess.

Think you meant October? If so yes.
Yeah you are right..dont know how I came up with November..I think I skipped over september LOL..so yeah it would be October 23rd that it would end if I did that..I have not gone to the site today to see if that promotion is still there I assume it is since I havent checked since last night..Im not really familiar with paramount plus, other than a quiet place part 2, are any other good movies on the site worth paying the 5 bucks a month for two months? And when I do cancel, do they usually offer an extra month to come back? I assume once I do the 2 months for 50 percent off, can I cancel immediately and I will be good til October 23rd or should I wait til a few days prior to it ending?
Also..do you think once I do cancel i would be offered an additional month to come back?

Edit: Yeah the offer just appeared on my account..

Gonna just go with the 7 day trial on Amazon, in that case. Been wanting to watch quiet place 2

I agree that competition is good, but that only works when they don't have exclusive content. If you can only watch something on one service then there isn't any competition.

Maybe if we didn't allow content creators to control distribution... [xfinity connection terminated]...

Haha! The Xfinity dig was funny.

I would argue the competition is the exclusive content, if a streaming service makes an awesome show, or owns the rights, I would subscribe just for that. In my case, I subscribe for a month of Disney+ just to watch the Mandelorian. There is no way I want to pay for the ability to watch the best of everything at once, I prefer to be much more deliberate, and targeted with my streaming subscriptions. This is also a way for us to vote on what type of show the consumer actually wants to see.

Boycott all these streaming spin-offs, maybe they'll realize that working with Hulu or Netflix is better for consumers (and themselves). Or we can just chase them all down and end up paying $150/mo for 10 different streaming services and wonder how we got into this mess…

Isn't that, just passing for cable? 😂

Theoretically you would cancel sept 23ish and be good for your last premium month at $5, nobody knows what they will offer you then.

I have a few shows I watch on there, not sure on movies. But I recommend air disasters and the show evil.

Oh I see..so since I would be good til October 23rd or so I should cancel one month in advance and I would still be good for that additional month? Do you think when I do cancel that they would offer me another free month just to entice me to come back? Thanks so much appreciate all of your help!

Possibly if you first switch to the $5 plan but since we are on the $10 it may just offer you something like we got now. But even if they let us walk from time to time they will email you asking to come back for a free month.

Was just really confused since it still says august 24th as the next bill date..I assumed that it would say october..oh I think I get it, so on August 24th I will be charged 10 dollars but that will be for two months til October 24th

so for sure I did it right this is what it says in more detail in my account:

Paramount+ Plan
Premium (Monthly) Trial
Add-Ons
Add SHOWTIME to your subscription
Price
$9.99/month
Discount
50% off 2 Months
Next Billing Date
August 24th, 2021

Also I see something next to the date it says save over 16 percent(Switch to annual) whatever that means
