I agree that competition is good, but that only works when they don't have exclusive content. If you can only watch something on one service then there isn't any competition.

This doesn't make any sense. Most industries don't offer identical content or products at each company, and yet they're absolutely considered to be competing with each other over customers. The same is true of different streaming service companies offering different, exclusive content to attract customers. There's absolutely competition if you can only watch a particular show on one service, because you have to decide which service(s) has the most content you care about, and balance that with how much you like their prices, features and interface of their website/app.

Lol, I'm no fan of Xfinity or most corporations, really, so I did laugh at your joke, but even as left-leaning as I am politically, I don't see the logic of not allowing content creators to control distribution of their artistic work! Like, what? You want to steal it from them or force them to sell it to every competitor? That's absurd. If a person or studio creates a show or movie (very expensive and difficult undertakings), or any form of art or entertainment for that matter, they have every right to control who they make a deal with to distribute their artistic work for profit (even including distributing it themselves on their own website, if they like), because if they didn't, they'd get paid peanuts for it, due to lack of competition over distribution rights. Consumers or government don't have any right to force Netflix (for example) to let their competitors profit off of their privately owned and funded studio's content, taking away a huge selling point for Netflix. If you wanna watch Netflix Originals, you gotta sub to Netflix, as it should be. If you want to illegally take people's creative content by force, then just pirate it I guess.

I would argue the competition is the exclusive content, if a streaming service makes an awesome show, or owns the rights, I would subscribe just for that. In my case, I subscribe for a month of Disney+ just to watch the Mandelorian. There is no way I want to pay for the ability to watch the best of everything at once, I prefer to be much more deliberate, and targeted with my streaming subscriptions. This is also a way for us to vote on what type of show the consumer actually wants to see.

Normally I'm 100% with you, but we are getting a ton of mediocrity, and its going to bring back piracy. Competition is good when the quality is good, in this situation, the more competition, the lower the quality.

Was just really confused since it still says august 24th as the next bill date..I assumed that it would say october..oh I think I get it, so on August 24th I will be charged 10 dollars but that will be for two months til October 24th

August 24th you will be charged $5, that is half off a premium $10 plan, sept 24th you will be charged again $5, that is half off a premium $10 plan…all assuming you don't cancel before then. Make sure to cancel around mid October.

While I can agree that some competitors are mediocre, your reasoning just isn't based in logic that more choice in the marketplace for consumers is the cause for piracy or lower quality for those mediocre competitors. On the contrary, the more competition, the higher the quality over time because each service is competing for customers who can't and won't subscribe to all of them, and the competitors who bring an inferior service to the competition will be weeded out of the market over time.

Also, the robust competition and variety of price tiers and business models reduces piracy, as the barrier to entry is lowered for those who can't resist how much more convenient it is to stream content legitimately than to pirate it. Of course, some piracy will always exist because some people just can't or won't pay for their content, but it makes no sense to say more businesses competing with each other increases piracy.
