Competition is good for the consumer, if the service stinks, it will go away on it's own. If there is a monopoly they can charge you as much as they like, and you have no other choice. No one is forced to use all of the available services at once, just bounce around, taking advantage of all the deals and offers.
Sounds EVIL
I've heard many stories of people being charged, even though they canceled on time.

Haha! The Xfinity dig was funny.

I would argue the competition is the exclusive content, if a streaming service makes an awesome show, or owns the rights, I would subscribe just for that. In my case, I subscribe for a month of Disney+ just to watch the Mandelorian. There is no way I want to pay for the ability to watch the best of everything at once, I prefer to be much more deliberate, and targeted with my streaming subscriptions. This is also a way for us to vote on what type of show the consumer actually wants to see.
LOL, thanks. I think it's important to remember that the reason you can't watch the second movie of the MCU on Disney + is that Comcast owns the distribution rights.

Does that mean that the software that powers the platform not be patentable because features like simultaneous viewing are not part of the product? I imagine that the big players would take issue with copying new features if they actually invested in creating them. These services seem to want to control their software innovations and their content exclusivity. But those products are different yet permanently linked together.

If you don't like the UI of Netflix, but you want to watch their exclusive content you can't vote with your dollars and watch it someplace else. That's the issue I have with it. Innovation in streaming service platforms is being held back it's not as important as the content.

We didn't stand for in other industries and now I can use any phone I wish on any network I want. And the industry understands this which is why I can buy some movies on iTunes and then watch them on Vudu.

The argument that the streaming services are somehow different just doesn't make sense to me. Because they wouldn't be as profitable? I am not sure how much sleep I will lose over a company that refuses to invest in the customer experience.

Normally I'm 100% with you, but we are getting a ton of mediocrity, and its going to bring back piracy. Competition is good when the quality is good, in this situation, the more competition, the lower the quality.
I didn't know piracy went away. I heard it killed Black Widow at the box office. IDK, maybe it just wasn't any good?

Was just really confused since it still says august 24th as the next bill date..I assumed that it would say october..oh I think I get it, so on August 24th I will be charged 10 dollars but that will be for two months til October 24th

so for sure I did it right this is what it says in more detail in my account:

Paramount+ Plan
Premium (Monthly) Trial
Add-Ons
Add SHOWTIME to your subscription
Price
$9.99/month
Discount
50% off 2 Months
Next Billing Date
August 24th, 2021

Also I see something next to the date it says save over 16 percent(Switch to annual) whatever that means
August 24th you will be charged $5, that is half off a premium $10 plan, sept 24th you will be charged again $5, that is half off a premium $10 plan…all assuming you don't cancel before then. Make sure to cancel around mid October.

I love watching Star trek: Discovery and Clarice. I think Clarice is getting canceled due to its MGM deal with Amazon. Of course I love watching the new movies posted for free. Disney needs to learn from HBO max and Paramount+. Also my Kids enjoy the nick stuff.

While I can agree that some competitors are mediocre, your reasoning just isn't based in logic that more choice in the marketplace for consumers is the cause for piracy or lower quality for those mediocre competitors. On the contrary, the more competition, the higher the quality over time because each service is competing for customers who can't and won't subscribe to all of them, and the competitors who bring an inferior service to the competition will be weeded out of the market over time.

Also, the robust competition and variety of price tiers and business models reduces piracy, as the barrier to entry is lowered for those who can't resist how much more convenient it is to stream content legitimately than to pirate it. Of course, some piracy will always exist because some people just can't or won't pay for their content, but it makes no sense to say more businesses competing with each other increases piracy.
Having 1 or 2 streaming services that have mostly all the content is the easy choice. Which then leads to lower piracy. Having a bunch of them with shows scattered among 5 or 6 is the PITA option that drives people back to pirating. I had a hulu sub for years, but then everyone pulled their shows because they thought they needed to start their own service and hulu lost all the shows I watched. So guess what? I didn't go chasing 5 streaming services. I canceled the ones I had and went back to pirating. Your logic is backwards.

Does anyone know when this promo code (EVIL) is set to expire?
I don't know when the 'evil' code expires but if you search SD for 'Paramount+' and/or 'CBS All Access', you'll see they've had some version of a free trial going on for a year now. I think this was my 4th trial I've signed up for on my account, mostly just to watch A Quiet Place 2.

I got the half off a year deal from back when CBS All-Access was making the switch to Paramount Plus. My question is this: when the hell is The Price is Right and Let's Make a Deal coming back from hiatus?
