High merv filters in your AC are garbage. Your AC isn't an air purifier. You're restricting your airflow and trashing your AC in the process.

Modern blowers are designed to handle higher Merv filters. With deeper/multiple pleated filters, the restriction is minimal and no problem.

Check your HVAC system, it should state what type of filters it's designed to handle.

I'm testing the k&n merv 11 cause i can't keep trying to shop for these since either you buy excessive bulk or risk trying to extend the life of a cheaper filter in between changes to a equal value

To expand on this, if you really want to run high Merv filters in your ac, get ones that are high flow, 3-5" deep. The extra surface area allows for more filtration while retaining the normal CFM that your air handler needs.

I'm always curious about the size of these. Why can't we have one or two uniform sizes? Let's say for certain sq ft room, the AC handlers use one size, and for a bigger sq ft, use another size. I have been living in different apts and all of them have different size requirement, which confuses me a lot. Now I need a 14*18*1, which seems much harder to find.
