New and trendy words to use. Maybe if you're stuck in the roaring 20s. 1920s, that is. This term originated in the 30s and caught on in the 40s.

I am aware the term has been around for quite some time. In fact, Gaslight is one of my favorite films.

My comment was meant to be an indictment of when management types who believe their MBA from the University of Phoenix impresses everyone around them hears a term and then adopts the same as something they came up with. They drop the newfound term every chance they get and look douchier each time they say it.

Gaslighting has not been used in typical everyday conversations for most people, but now I hear it at least a few times a week and often incorrectly. I recently heard it's use from pundits in mainstream media.

Gaslighting reminds me of cringeworthy terms like "wheelhouse" or "bandwidth" often found in corporate parlance.

Yes, I just used parlance.

Hah, "wheelhouse" is one that gets under my skin too. I see where you're coming from now, sorry.
