Gel Kayanos and GT-2000 are my go-to ASICS shoes for the past ten years. If you have an ASICS outlet near you, the prior season's shoes tend to have very aggressive promotions during the fall.
If you are a severe over-pronator, then motion control shoes are the next level up, but there is no free lunch...they tend to be VERY heavy. For these, I used to always went for New Balance, but their lineup has shrunken quite a bit, and never go on sale.

It isnt just heel wear you want to look at it; also look at the part of your shoe where the little toe (the outer toe) and the ball are. Try running a few steps and see how your "toe-off" feels...the part where you arent landing, but propeling into the next step. What part propels you? Your little toe, or your ball? That will tell you if you are a pronator/supinator, or neutral.
honestly, at the end of the day, are you comfortable with the shoes? Do you find yourself getting fatigued, sore, or flat out INJURED while running in your shoes? No need to change your shoe because of some biomechanical eggheads on some random forum
I had to go back to my previous running shoe.
