Do these have a motion sensor? I would assume being described as "security" lights, they would turn on as someone approaches.

I don't believe these have motion sensors built in. You would need to purchase one, probably one of the outdoor ones, to be able to have it as a security light. It can be set up with a schedul along with Home/ Away routines.

Damn, I hate that the hue motion sensors are battery powered only. I just want it to be permanently powered like any other motion sensing floodlight you buy at Lowes or Home Depot.

A built-in motion sensor would add a good 25¢ to the cost of the light and cut into the profit margin on this item, while at the same time competing for the motion sensor sales.

Totally agree. I'm fact, I haven't found any "smart home" motion sensors that aren't battery powered. Please tell me if you know of one.

True... but you can light up your intruders with 16 million different colors. So there's that.

I use 2 models throughout my house and both supports battery or a micro usb input if you want to hardwire. First is GE motion sensors I got years ago on Walmart clearance and the other one is Zooz S2 outdoor motion sensor

You can use a wired 433mhz sensor and either a Sonoff RF bridge or an SDR dongle. At least with Home Assistant.

Ring had a smart floodlight that is hard wired. Their entire smart lighting is so much cheaper than hue.

I think the Hue sensors use AA or AAA batteries. You could get a battery eliminator from eBay to hardwire them. People also make coin cell battery eliminators (not on eBay) but those seem a little more DIY/sketchy. They probably work fine, though, as little power as we're talking about.
