My r6700 rising on its last legs. Good buy up?

Edit. Thought this was tri-band.

I have the r6700 as well and have started looking at the Nighthawk mesh systems since I've been happy with the r6700 but need more coverage in certain spots of the house. The MK83 looks great with tri-band and is obviously much better but it's a pretty big step up in cost from this one, I might save up for it not sure.

Costco list MK63 but I see MK63S, so is and older revision, anyone know the difference? Might be why it's so much cheaper than the 63S?

Switching to a 1GB fiber network and need a router for my one story 2500 sqft home. It's just the wife and I working from home plus streaming Tv/movies/sports. We also have a lot of smart devices/cameras/etc. is this a good option or should I look into one of the single unit net gear nighthawk models?

I bought this 2 weeks ago and it performed as I expected. I have 3 floors including basement and I got at least 150 Mbps everywhere in the house. Google WiFi Mesh router 4 packs will be on sale on 8/4/21. The only drawback for Google WiFi is only WiFi 5 vs. Netgear MK63 is WiFi 6.

I bought these 2 weeks ago and just returned it. They perform okay. I was getting a max on 150mbps and sometimes lower when my internet speed is 400mbps. Did some googling and found out I wasn't the only one with this issue. The netgear orbi gave me the best performance but my smart TVs were having issues connecting over WiFi

If you want to connect each satellite directly to the main unit, that's true because there is only one lan port available, but that goes for a lot of mesh systems. The obvious solution is to connect the main unit to a switch and then the switch to each satellite. Now both satellite's are backhauled.

Huh, that works? Any degredation in speed or is it just capped at 1Gbps total for the two satellites?

There is zero difference between the non s and s version other than the 90 day free malware protection on the s. Which is funny because the price different is quite significant.

As long as your switch(es) and cable(s) are rated for the speed you want, there would be no real-world difference. There's a whole thread on Reddit discussing this topic because of the wording of that kb article on Netgear. I was planning on getting the MK83 but was told that the MK63 will deliver almost identical performance in my wired home if I wire backhaul both satellites.

Debating this or the ax4300 that's supposed to go on sale for $150. Can this mk63 have separate SSIDs? 2.4 and 5? Maybe things have changed but I've read that it can't? I need some of my items to be on 5ghz and others on 2.4

Update: Ended up with the 4300. Throughput is good and range is acceptably better than my old 6700.

Gigabit tested hard wired and 750 wireless
