If you're rich enough to make $3k+ monthly mortage payments then you're probably not DIYing much of anything.
You're mistaken. Many of us with wealth DIY. Million dollar house and contractors see "wealth" and try to charge crazy rates.

That kind of defeats the purpose of buying this Do It Yourself kit. If you have an HVAC guy, he's probably going to have a brand that he prefers and won't need to bother with precharged linesets.
And besides that, every job is different. I someone says they can bid Your job wihout looking at it, I wouldn't trust them.

Just from an electrical POV, it 'Could' take me as little as an hour to hook up. Or it could take me and another guy all day, depending on the location of your panel, what the distance and path to compressor will be and what the access is like.

What city do you have in mind for that $600K home? Because in NY that buys a shed. Some people here paying $3k monthly are DIYing whatever they can if they want to own a home at all.

$3K+ monthly mortgage doesn't make someone rich.

As a hvac service tech, I hope none of you guys call me for service. With people talking about not putting in a disconnect box.
Or giving any thought to the existing load (Amperage) on the circuit for the wall outlet that's right there or over there. Most outlets are wired for 15 Amps and majority of the time unless dedicated, have multiple outlets on same circuit. It is best to to run a dedicated circuit.

I mean the disconnect is literally just for the service tech to easily be able to disconnect power to service. What's the difference if instead its just plugged into a 120v exterior outlet and you just unplug it? I believe it probably does need a disconnect to be up to code though.
Yes some disconnects are for servicing the unit. Depends on the disconnect, a fused disconnect is for over current protection and is recommended, even an enclosed circuit breaker is an excellent option. An outlet...... I as an electrician would walk away and say have a good day.

is this a household outlet or need a AC disconnect breaker box? for 12k btu how much amp does it draw on 115v??
Check your local code requirements. If you don't know how to wire it, then hire an electrician so you don't burn the house down.

On a different note, I've had this going on 3 years and it's still going strong. It replaced a central AC unit that was for only the master bedroom. No way was I going to spend about $7000 for just one room. I did the work myself except for the electrical. Had a friend that was an electrician that helped me out. It was easy but if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have thought about the disconnect box next to the outdoor unit. It took us a total of 4 hours. Don't forget that you'll also need a raised concrete pad or some kind of surface to install the outside unit. I also recommend buying this.

Disagree. Many people in $1m+ homes do plenty of diy. Many people enjoy it, and many people who have money work very hard for it and wish to save it where they can. This is item is a perfect example of something like that. If I wanted heat/ac in a garage or shed or 3rd floor room this is perfect
