Switching to a 1GB fiber network and need a router for my one story 2500 sqft home. It's just the wife and I working from home plus streaming Tv/movies/sports. We also have a lot of smart devices/cameras/etc. is this a good option or should I look into one of the net gear nighthawk models?

question why would you switch to 1GBE fiber? Could go 2.5GBE cheaper?

Sorry not sure what you are asking? Not very IT savvy. I'm switching from xfinity 400mbps for $80/month to consolidated communications 1gb for $60/month.

No worries. Any suggestions on a router for my home? I originally wanted to do a mesh system, but might be overkill?

This is not what you'll want if you need a router as this is "just" a switch. Put very simply, all this does is take traffic that it receives from one of the devices connected to it and send that traffic to all other devices connected to it. It is not designed to be connected directly to your modem/internet connection to properly route traffic through them. My guess is you don't have a massive amount of networking background or significant interest in learning networking, and that means that yes you'll want to look for a wireless router like their Nighthawk line instead of this. If you do have interest in learning networking or have a large house then you may consider something like this paired with a proper wired router and wireless access points.

For wireless I've heard good things about Amazon's Eero line, and I'm currently using (basically) Google's Nest Wifi mesh system with mostly positive results. If you've got a large or multilevel house with no network connections in your rooms then mesh is probably your best bet for relatively speedy connections all over your house. You'll also want a WiFi 6 system to get the most of your gigabit speeds.

Can you use this with a UDM Pro and Protect? Thinking about getting UDM Pro and a couple Ubiquiti cameras that need POE.

No 10gbe ports on this switch! The name 10-port might give the impression that it has 10gb ports.

If you don't need POE, then go to eBay and grab an HP 24 port ProCurve 1GB switch for about $30 shipped, great deal and rack mountable as well.
