The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

There absolutely is a grind in the 7-9 book range, but it's worth powering through. Especially when you get to the Brandon Sanderson written books (last 3).
1-5 was the sweet spot. My favorite series at the time. The best thing about the rest of the books is that they will eventually introduce you to Brandon Sanderson, who saves the series.

Thanks! Same price on Kobo which has them DRM free.
You know what they say about assumptions - at the bottom of each description on Amazon "At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied."

Sanderson did an excellent job finishing the series but to be fair to Jordan he got back on track with New Spring. (imo)
I am with you, but this series almost did me in. Went from buying hardcover editions, a couple signed by Robert Jordan, to waiting years after release before finally giving the last ones a go. But I did make it through. I think I just kept waiting for Morraine to not really be dead...
I've started this series twice, and gave up both times right here!
It starts to bog down in book 7, hits it's slowest speed in book 8, begins to recover in book 9, and is fully back to speed in book 10.
And the thing is that those slower books are just fine. They just aren't at the high level you had come to expect.
Seems like every epic fantasy writer has a slow patch at some point. This is it for Jordan. And it isn't as bad as the slow book from the Game of Thrones series. Which is also a great series, despite the slow book (and still no ending).
Just stick with it. You'll be glad you did.
By the time you're on your 3rd or 4 re-read, you'll still feel the slow-down, but it won't bother you very much.
Very simply, it's the best epic fantasy series ever.

I hope George RR Martin has the good sense to get all his notes in order like Jordan so that Sanderson or someone will be able to finish the Game of Thrones series when he inevitably kicks the bucket.

Wonder if the whole series will go on sale as Amazon gets closer to launching their live action series

Books 1-3 have been less ($2.99) exactly ONCE in the last ten years.
Books 4-5 have been less ($3.99) exactly ONCE in the last ten years.
They have never been $1.99
Please stop with the careless commentary
