I'm patient. Going in, I knew it would be 3+ months, so I'm not about to get petulant now because oThEr oRdErS aRe sHiPpInG NAAAAOOOOOOO!!!!

The laptop isn't going to be any less of a deal in 4 months.
I have been saying this deal will still be good when the laptops arrive, but it will almost definitely be less of a deal in 3-4 months. This wasn't like 80% off, this was just a very good deal. I wouldn't be shocked if there's prices within $100-200 of these by then, which a lot of people don't think is worth waiting 4 months for.

At the same time, prices may stay exactly the same or even go up. There's literally no way to know in this market.

I was supposed to buy one in Black Friday anyway. I always knew it will be almost 3 months of wait because every manufacturer has some supply shortages of chips. If it is not for the shortage, they would have probably taken 1/1.5 months max. I think even in black friday, delays like this will be seen due to this shortage. Probably if you don't see some killer in store deals like the walmart one, it is worth waiting a bit more.

Yes,, but why the kvetching now? I plan to re-evaluate periodically as I get closer to my anticipated ship date, and if it's no longer comparatively as great a deal or a better one comes along in the interim, then I'll just cancel at that point. It's not like these purchases are irrevocable.

How is it not any less of a deal? It objectively is. Time spent waiting on the laptop to ship (which is therefore time spent not using it, especially when it's at its newest and most relevant) is lost value. This is a simple fact.

I think this is normally true assuming that the supply of the laptop components is abundant. However, given that there is currently a chip shortage and the supply may fluctuate in the coming months, it's much less clear. It could be that by the time November rolls around, chips are even scarcer than they are now due to production limitations (especially if the rising covid cases due to Delta variant throttle back production), and so this would be even more of a deal than currently.

Also, it seems as though the wait time for ordering Legion laptops through Lenovo right now (discounting the fact that they're currently unavailable on the website for ordering) is 3-4 months. So it seems like that's just part of the price you have to pay if you want to order a Legion laptop directly from them, unless you get lucky and picked the Stingray color.

Also, given that the Stingray color had an original delivery estimate of October 20, and that estimate got updated to 2.5 months earlier, there's a good chance that these laptops may end up shipping earlier than expected.

I doubt that. Supply sucks right now too and similarly speced models to these Lenovo laptops are in stock all the time. It's the top-end 3080 models that are difficult to get. The 5900HX 3070 ROG Strix Scar 15, which has almost identical specs to the Legion 5 Pro, is in stock on Newegg right now. It's just Lenovo that has these ridiculous 4-5 month supply backups.

Inflation causes prices to go up. Inflation is predicted to be bad in the coming months.

I got a pending transaction on my CC for full amount. Called mentioned phone for explanation. Nothing. Support forwarded me to sales rep and initially agreed to match the price of cancelled order as they didn't see clear reason why it was cancelled. After 30Minutes on the phone sales rep said the he can't get anywhere near that price. He send me a quote for legion Slim 7 Gen 6 AMD (15") with RTX 3060 5800/16gb/1tb for 1499

So your order never had the status "transferred to manufacturing"?
