Desktops are more sought after than laptops as desktop are repairable and replaceable, which laptops are not. There is not much profit to resell laptops if any.

As stated above a desktop with graphics card is in demand right now. Noone will buy a laptop. I've tried selling laptops, even macbooks, in the past and almost no interest except from scammers and lowballers.

It's a local pickup so the payment is cash. Not sure what do you mean by keep safe, but I always check the buyer's facebook profile before the sale.
