Can I still get edu discount through unidays or is it only id.me now?
Took me a long time to figure it out.

Use edu account to create a Samsung acccount. Then log in and you'll see the price.

No need to do that id.me thing.

Personal experience: Bought this 2 weeks ago, had it for 2 days. The speakers on this laptop are SO BAD. If you were looking to use speakers on your new laptop, this is not for you. 2nd issue, this version has a plastic bottom and it misaligned with the rest of the laptop. You can see the bottom warped from an angle and pressing the mouse pad doesn't work at an angle ( holding it on your lap at an angle for example ). It snaps in and out of the body if you squeeze it. I PERSONALLY do not recommend this laptop, it feels like a $400 laptop.

ask for price match. return + rebuy if all else fails
It's better to buy this now and return your previous order. Samsung will not price match if the price changes tomorrow

benchmarks 20% worse than the $750 mbook air m1 which is in an aluminum body with a better screen

not sure who would buy this

(also those who actually ebay their laptops know windows laptops have no value after 4 years because various cheap garbage components have thermal problems, the M1 will be worth a lot, as students and artists love them)
Why are you even comparing this to an Apple product. Can you run Windows on MacBook air now?
It's like android phones depreciate fast compared to Apple phones. Then asking ppl why buying android phones.

True, especially for research tasks. Many software and programs are not compatible or available on MacOS.

the weight primarily.

have you picked up an mb air and then picked up this samsung? the mb air feels like a brick. definitely those that are ok w/ sacrificing performance for portability.

Well, at this point one could technically even run Win 11 on M1, though Parallels is still working on a solid support of Win 11.
There is a pretty decent comparison of Samsung GB Pro to base M1 here [youtu.be], and as much as I wish to see a fair competition, Samsung just can't keep up: worse screen, performance, battery life, speakers, camera. It's not that Samsung's model is bad, it's M1 that is way ahead of its competitors.
This is exactly what's holding me back. I'm comfortable in both Windows and Mac but it's so hard to buy anything else in this class with just how crazy good the M1 Mac performance is right now.
