My biggest complaint for this saw is that it is LOUD but that is not a big deal to me. It also doesn't feel as solid as the Dewalt 8-1/4" saw. Nonetheless, it provides more than enough power, accepts a dado stack (you can find the dado throat plate on Amazon now), is well built, cuts straight, has a relatively (though not perfectly) straight table surface (on mine), and comes with an excellent warranty. This isn't the same Skil quality from a few years ago when Bosch ran it into the ground. Chervon is actually doing great things with the brand and this table saw is representative of that.

My concern with this Skil is the relatively narrow left and right cut capacity, and the Ridgid meets my minimum criteria. But I'm still intrigued with this Skil.

Pros: it can do a Dado, it has a great motor, and it has cool features (like all the Skil items seem to be upgrading lately).
Cons: Tolerances are really poor, it has quite a bit of play to it. the surface is wonky and often warps.

Then a great deal comes up and I get excited about it.... and you just shoot it down with all these lack of quality facts.

I did do a decent amount of research and chose this for a few reasons:
1. ability to use a dado stack
2. larger rip capacity (25.5") than other models in this price point
3. rack and pinion fence
4. 4x4 cutting ability
So far so good as I haven't had any major issues. My two main problems are fairly minor. The tabletop is a thinner aluminum and I don't always get a smooth push on my workpieces - something a bit of paste wax can probably fix. The folding legs do seem flimsy and leave a lot to be desired. Somewhere on my project list I'm going to integrate this into my mobile worktable, so the leg problem can be fixed.
