How can you call it "old tech" when its replacement/upgrade is not even out yet?
Remember if you live in NYC area the Micro Center in Paterson NJ only charges 3.2% tax instead ofthe apporx 8.9 yet charged in NYC and Yonkers
Old tech? This is state of the art. Even the new 11th gen from Intel can't compete. If you think this is old tech, you should avoid giving computer advice.

Remember if you need a motherboard also you get another $20 off the combo.
Looks like there are no motherboard bundles with this one currently. Or can you pick them separately?

Can someone help me with the PCIE4 thing? I know Intel's 11th gen supports PCIE4 but it seems to only supports SSDs with a Z590 board but not PCIE4 GPU support? Can anyone confirm that? I know that only having PCIE3 support for GPUs is fine now but I'm thinking next gen cards will benefit from PCIE4.

I hate you micro center. I get excited at least once a week to find that you are the reason for my disappointment. I think you are giving me a complex, enough to move to an area with you in my radius. I hate you micro center.

Would you really drive 185 miles to save $20 on a processor?
Damn. So 185 miles to get it. Then another 185 to return home.

Check the specifications page of the motherboard it will show something similar to this:
PCI_E1 & PCI_E2 slots (From CPU)
Support up to PCIe 4.0 for 11th Gen Intel® CPU
Support up to PCIe 3.0 for 10th Gen Intel® CPU
For the above a GPU will work at PCIe 4.0 on both slots.

This is the price this chip should've launched with. The original price made this the worst CPU in the Ryzen 5000 family in terms of performance to price. This is a killer price.

You're lucky. The two closest Best Buy's to me won't price match Micro Center. Had to go to the one 20 miles away for them to be willing to do it.
Curiosity how far away on a one way trip (in miles) was the best buy that gave you the discount from the that microcenter with the best price? To me that is just good business they are going to get your dollars in the future.

Yea, it's true. Cpu upgrade is not that necessary. 4790ks are still rocking these days. $300 is a great price. I also bought open box mobo at microcenter. Works well.
I have a 4790k on an evga classified mobo with 32gb and a Vega 64 devil....I have Zero complaints and do YouTube editing and some gaming. Maybe not super Uber ultra but on high 1080p I honestly can't tell anyway.
Still running stock on a be quiet air cooler...never did overclock because I LOVE the silent PC!!

That's what I bough there, 2 days ago, on a long one-way drive, Of course I already had a motherboard, so I might have serious buyer's remorse over this deal.
