This doesn't appear to be a 'sale' or discount. Looks like it's only for Prime members, if I read the following correctly.

How does this compare to the Amazon basics one that was on sale for $25 a few days ago?

I don't see a reason to get this or any other bookshelf speakers w/ 4" drivers when you can get the DA B652 w/ 6.5" woofers along w/ an amp for less $$$. That's roughly twice the surface area. The output, especially for lower frequency, will blow this away. SQ, while objective, would be equal for most (just based off reviews).

What amp would you recommend?

This or the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1? I'd want it either for game system or for TV. Thinking these might be better buy for optional sub woofer. Klipsch has wired sub that would need wires from sub to the speakers. Whereas this one, I could get on of those wireless subwoofer kits and add whichever sub I want to this later on.

You can't go wrong with Promedia 2.1. I have one for over three years and it's been flawless. It has great sound. Plenty of bass without sacrificing mids or highs. Yes, it will not compete with speakers costing thousands but I think that it favorably compares to any sub $500 speakers.

I can not find any wireless subwoofer cheap enough to go with this system. Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Might be better deal for most if you want a subwoofer.

I have these and the Klipsch ProMedias, and sooo many other speakers over the years. Get the Klipsch if you need computer speakers. I honestly wish I never bought these. They may be flat(ish) for "accuracy" (I have them in use ONLY for my home recording setup now), but for music or anything else, hard pass. They just have no life to them at all, which is nuts given how big the dang things are. Even mixing on them, you really have to jack the volume.

These just don't have a place in life except for an ULTRA budget recording studio. If you need computer speakers, get good computer speakers. If you need studio monitors, get better ones than these. Either way, you can do better quite easily.

They are pretty though if you take the grills off...

The one-time cost of getting an SVS subwoofer transmitter (Soundpath) is worth the decade of not having this problem, I've found

The C-Note it takes to have an SVS subwoofer transmitter is worth the decade of not having to worry about this question
