I bought these years ago. I do not know if the issue has been fixed in the meantime, but mine will flicker if you are near them with an iPhone that has Face ID.

I think the Face ID camera emits IR light flashes that confuse these lights.
You sure it isn't your shadow? Mine flickers when I stand near it and cast shadows if there are dim light sources nearby.

For less than $10 you can get a 4-pack of automatic LED night lights at your local big box home store which are also UL-/ETL-listed:

Good luck!

Please get your facts straight before you post bad information.

These lights have a declaration of conformity and CE mark.

https://us.eufylife.com/products/t1303

you can see their declaration in the documents section of the product page.

I'll leave it to the reader to examine which dozen EN standard the product has been tested to (which are harmonized with UL standard which means equivalent).

The product is safe and well tested. Anker is a reputable brand with a long testing history with UL. you can even look up their UL records. CE and European standards are equivalent and in some cases more stringent.

I hate fake news Wink

I have these for about 1 year and I am very happy with these. Note that these are meant to light a path and not a general area. The best use is to light a hallway or a corridor or stairs. The lights have 3000K light so the light is soothing and the design is such that it throws the light only at the bottom and shines the path so to say. Yes, these cost more than the cheap HD or WM lights, which will shine a 5500K or 6000K light in your face and wake you up.

Apples and Oranges: the CE mark is a statement by the manufacturer and nothing else. The CE mark is incredibly common because it has a very low bar. Allow me to cite the European Commision's own page on CE marking [europa.eu]:
Quote :
Please note that a CE marking does not indicate that a product have been approved as safe by the EU or by another authority.
Contrast this with UL and ETL which requires that a 3rd party both receive your product for inspection as well as allow for inspection of other elements such as the manufacturing process (depending upon the associated safety standards, which happen to be written by UL).

Good luck!

No, definitely Face ID. I only have to hold the phone in the direction of the light and turn on the lock screen and it starts blinking.

I reported it to Anker a couple years ago. They refunded and offered an extra product for free as compensation and said they would fix it. So maybe the latest ones don't have that issue anymore.

I get a pack of these lights from walmart [walmart.com] and take off the plastic part and turn them upside down. I've done this for years and I love them. So much smaller and cheaper. Literally have one on behind me right now.
Literally looking across my foyer at the same light in the exact configuration.
Had mine for over 2 years now without an issue.

I really love this idea for corridor lighting and look forward to implementing it as soon as the toddlers get out of the stage where things plugged into outlets are interesting opportunities...

Good luck!

they are not apples and oranges as I noted the standard have become harmonized. I realize CE mark is self declaration and you can lie. you can also lie about UL and put a sticker of either on your product.

in fact a UL mark can mean many things as you don't have to indicate what tests and standard you complied with, while a CE mark requires that you indicate what standard were met.

CE mark is compulsory in the EU and UL is NOT compulsory in the US though many retailers won't sell your product without it.

Thanks buddy, but I clearly indicated that they had 3rd party testing for relevant harmonized standards. Read what I post before providing bad info.

There are no UL standards that is inspect manufacturing processes. If you believe there are ones that are used regularly for consumer products I would be interested in you identifying them for me.

you are just arguing for the sake of arguing, or you have a dinning kruger problem.

CE and UL/ETL are distinct because CE is a self-declared label and UL/ETL are both third-party companies who provide inspection/testing and also maintain a database which can be searched and verified.

As an example, I have this dimmer switch on my desk right now so that I can finally add a dimmer switch to my home office (see image). The switch has a UL mark (as I would demand for any device connected to AC). Should I want to verify the meaning of that mark I can search the database of UL using the model number TG-600P on the device and find the relevant listing for the device on my desk: https://productiq.ulprospector.co...00p&page=1. Turns out the dimmer I have on my desk is not only legitimately UL-listed, but that it is specifically UL-listed as a dimmer switch to meet the relevant safety standards. Standards do exist for nightlights, and entering nightlights into the UL search will provide pages of relevant products. However, no nightlight entry exists for Eufy or Anker on either UL or ETL's search page (https://ramuk.intertekconnect.com...h?OpenForm). Note that Anker has had devices listed by both companies (search either database for Anker). This only further highlights the fact that they did not go through this effort with the nightlight in question here.

The key takeaway is that for consumer electronics no one should see a CE mark and consider it equivalent to the UL or ETL mark. I think you bring up a good point that the marks themselves should not be taken for granted. Instead, I'd encourage anyone seeing a UL or ETL mark search the database prior to accepting the meaning of the product. I've seen products with a UL-marked power cord in which the only UL-listed element was the power cord itself (and not the attached product!).

If you do want to get into the weeds of UL (I doubt many here do) I recommend UL's own marketing guidelines page, that covers everything from UL-listed products, companies, contractors, etc.
https://marks.ul.com/about/ul-lis...and-rules/

Good luck!
Jon

I purchased this previously, they're just OK. One of them completely malfunctions and another is hit/miss. Malfunction being, it stays on all the time or it flickers on/off when its dark instead of staying on. Quality control seems to be not great on these units.

Other thoughts, the light is directional, so take note of the direction of your outlets and which way you can orient them. The prongs are neutral so you can put them upside down if you'd like, but just be aware of that (e.g. in our bathroom, our outlet switch is sideways for some reason).

I have had 10 of these all over my house for a few years now and really like them. I haven't ever had an issue with any of them.

What's wrong with having them on all the time?
