I bought another of these vpn deals last time and every single server they have is pozzed. I can't navigate to most websites without being confronted with captcha or a message saying that i'm blocked because they think i'm a bot. I am done with these cheapo vpns. It's clear that the only people who buy into them are spammers running bots. It's clear that these companies actually make their money from charging you for personal IP rather than the service itself. They go on sale on Stack Social and then charge you lots of money for personal ip after you stress out from their blacklisted servers.

Better than no protection? I guess so but at the expense of having to switch around servers or disabling the vpn repeatedly throughout your day just to do something as simple as visiting movie review sites.

People recommend Private Internet Access or Nord VPN so that's what i'm switching to.

How can you tell which VPNs are not run by the security service of some country, or some other spy entity like one of the big tech companies?

Can you give the the two sentence description of the value of information in that table?

I don't have the expertise to know what those various indicators mean, but as a mid-wit trying to infer the value of those markers, they for the most part seem to pre-suppose that you can trust the people who run the service not to be lying.

Is any one of those parameters a strong indicator of legitimacy?

I Iike this chart, however in 1 of the disclaimers it says it takes the companies at their word. Never a good thing if someone's trying to sell you something and/or they are secretly govt owned.

Amazing price for 5 years. Been wanting this for a while but held off buying because it wasn't a lifetime deal. Love Adguard and love being able to use VPN proxy along with Adguards standard ad blocking. Can't beat it

What's the best quality and value VPN if I'm only interested in watching foreign TV shows (British/Australian)?

You might want to take a look at the old website it was sourced from
http://web.archive.org/web/202006...ysite.net/

It gives a breakdown of the VPN services at the time (2020) and the criteria they used to make those scores.

I won't say I agree with all the scores, but take it as a decent overview of the various VPN providers out there and what they claim to do or don't do.

Hope that helps!

What's the benefit of VPN for someone who doesn't want to bypass geo restrictions? I also use adguard dns at home and on phones to block ads.. so what's the need of vpn?

Privacy.

Some people prefer to anonymously use the internet (or attempt to add some layer of privacy, in reality).

Privacy against ISP provider? If someone wants to get back to you or see what you are doing it's 100% doable

I too have been waiting on a lifetime deal. I'd hate to pull the trigger and see a lifetime offer in 6 months
