EDU Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens - BH Photo $958.2

This is the cheapest ever for a great general purpose zoom for the Sony FE mount. You need EDU to get the deal. If you have BH's Taboo card, there is also no tax. This is cheaper than used market price.

I'm sure other camera stores like Adorama has the same EDU deal if you prefer another store.

I bought it at the same price in May. Pretty decent lens.
Does the zoom ring turn smoothly on your copy? Mine is a bit sticky

Get a Tamron 28-200. Larger aperture in 28~100mm. You lose 24~28mm and OSS, but the additional 100~200mm range is well worth it.

Totally agree. I have used all standard zooms on FE system and Tamron 28-200 is the best for versatility. If you want 2.8 then Sigma is the one to get.

This deal may come more often because Tamron is planning a releasing of 2nd generation 28-75 and a new 35-150, both of which are arguably more capable, and directly compete with this lens.

I picked one up from Amazon Warehouse for just a little under $800. It came in a like-new condition with no blemish or anything. I take it when traveling and hiking and it's now my favorite lens because of how versatile it is.

Get the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8
I have both, but had just the Tamron (since its launch) until I bought this one earlier this summer. Different uses, but I now use this Sony 24-105/4 more frequently.

For outside/daytime use, this is much more versatile. The extra 75-105 mm reach is invaluable when you need it, which in my case was quite a bit. Perhaps it's how I usually shoot, but when I know I don't need the wide end, the Sony 70-200/4 is my favorite lens actually. Towards the evening the f4 max aperture is still acceptable on my Sony A7iii; in which case even f2.8 wouldn't be enough either.

My Tamron 28-75/2.8 is largely used now for indoor gatherings and parties, and I may be selling in the near future.

I paid full price for this lens, but it's been well worth it even with my Tamron, and would re-buy it again at this price instantly if I were still within my Amazon return window.

I believe the Sigma isn't weather sealed? Or rather not as much as the Tamron is what I understood in the reviews.
I'd bet you've never even remotely got your camera wet.

I thought weather sealing was more about keeping humidity out
