Not to sound ignorant but does anyone have recommendations for Router, Modem for a Comcast 300mbps plan?

I've read conflicting information on how valuable the most recent DOCSIS standard is and how much you need to exceed your plans speeds.

This deal is trash. It's the old Google wifi, not the newer Google nest wifi.
Big differences.

I am running Google nest routers as APs, so I have 5 Google nest wifi routers across my house, but if you aren't running a smart home, 3 should do for a house, 1-2 for apartments / townhomes.

Google is good on visual data for those not tech savvy. The draw back for now is they are not WIFI 6, but most devices in the wild are not wifi 6 yet, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I would NOT use the router from Comcast. Use one of these as your router.
I'm on FiOS gig internet, and have regular speeds of 800+ up and down.

I've contemplated the google wifi solution a few times, but I ended up going with a "used - acceptable" netgear orbi rbk50 from amazon warehouse for ~$165. Honestly, new in box doesn't matter so much to me for a router, as long as it works. The orbi has been absolutely great! I can easily get my max 300/300 from fios w/ it from multiple devices in multiple locations inside my house (not simultaneously of course). Intranetwork transfers are also plenty fast.

I similarly tried the ASUS XT8 in a solo configuration for ~185, and even RIGHT NEXT to the router, out to about 20 feet with clear line of sight, and trying to rotate the thing to give off a stronger signal, I never was able to match the performance of the orbi system, even though it's AC and the XT8 was AX.

Food for thought.

I have Google fiber and they recently came out and provided me with only two of the Google Nest AC1304.
My question is for you folks that are knowledgeable about all this. Would these AC1200 play nice with the AC1304?
If so, I have one next to my router and one off in another room. Would adding this 3 pack be ok for a 1800 sq ft home? I'm not as concerned about overkill as much as would it be not a good idea to spread too many of these throughout my home.
TIA

Any Docsis 3.0 and above modem is perfectly fine for a 300Mbps speed teir, netgear CM600-1AZNAS would be a higher end suggestion, good for speeds up to 1Gbps real limitation is actually 960Mbps. I still have a D-Link DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem (DCM-301) that works perfectly fine but I believe it tops out at 320/340Mbps on the download, so if you plan on sticking with 300Mbps perfectly fine. A middle line option would be the TP-LINK Docsis 3.0 TC-7620 which is good for 686Mbps speeds.

I got a used DCM-301 and a BNIB CM600 (never tested or opened), if your interested send me a message. Was going to ebay them eventually just never got around to it.

Peppering such a small location with 5 AP's is not a good idea, you could potentially lead yourself to a lot of headaches of having items not connect to proper AP's and hand off issues. For most under 2K sq ft house unless there are dead zones due to environmental variables a single router is mostly all you need.

Even with those AC1304 your not taking full advantage of 1Gbps service through fiber since those AC1304 only usually good up to 550Mbps through wireless. They do have poorer range though as they are made to cover about 1200sq ft per unit probably why they gave you two.

This is actually 1st gen "Google Wifi", does not include Google Assistant voice control like in the newer 2nd gen Google Nest Wifi.

But the Nest Wifi doesnt include ethernet ports on the remote units like this version does. Super useful feature.

The routers do. Hence why I have all routers as APs.

The new Google nest routers suck. Some of us have Ethernet run around the house. I'd rather connect ap's via hard wire and get the full speed rather than mesh.

new Google mesh do not have Ethernet jacks on the back. well, the router does, the rest do not.

If you have run Ethernet through your house, you are in the minority.
Someone had to remind me of that, recently.

If you've run Ethernet, you'd likely be going entry level business mesh, not google or EERO.
