I always wondered this, and so I started comparing between Grubhub and dine-in menu. I never found prices to be different. I do feel badly, because Grubhub takes a big cut of their money. And of course delivery and tip is an extra cost.
Perhaps there is state or city legislation that prevents this is some locations?

Edit: messaging said through 2021 but then I got a notification that it was a 30 day trial and it appears to expire in October 2021.

I think depends on the restaurant, some pass the additional costs on to customers, others eat the cost out of their profits, at the end of the day either the consumer or small business owners loses or both of them lose, the big companies like seamless, Uber eats and grub hub get their share of the profits
I've only used these apps on occasion so it never dawned on me that the prices were slightly higher on GrubHub than the actual restaurant prices until I created an order for a common dish that I always buy on the restaurants main app. It turned out to be approx $4 more. It could be just some restaurants so do your research.
I always tip so when you factor in tip + inflated prices for a PICKUP order, it's just not worth it. Order directly via restaurant website/app or call in when you can unless there's your typical $10 off $20 offer which negates those inflated prices and tip.

Just for kicks I put together a quick cart with $16 worth of food at a local cafe. They want $3 in 'tax and fees' including a 5.25% 'service fee' and $2.50 in 'drivers benefits' on top of the delivery fee. When you click on the fees information, they claim sales tax is $2.12 which only makes sense if they're charging sales tax on the delivery fees and driver benefits too. Who does this?
Nah, grubhub is dead to me.
