At $17 I think this is a decent deal if you only need to track weight via bluetooth and you have small to medium-large sized feet. It does sync with HealthKit and I assume Google Fit as well though be careful as the app asks for permissions to retrieve unrelated health data as well.

Right, because everything that's made in China HAS to be spying on our data. It's not possible that some company just wants to make a profit selling inexpensive products to the American marketplace without an added motive. They're definitely interested in beeming your BMI across the inter webs to China mainland just to be able to say "yeah those Americans are big!"… come on man.
App isnt bad either. It doesnt run in the background, you have to open the app for it to sync but the weight scale remembers last 10 weight data so you dont have to sync everytime.
One concern I have is sometimes when you step on multiple times, it will keep showing you different numbers. The max variance I've seen is 1.2lb.
Does anyone know of a reliable brand/company producing reliable smart scales? I saw Withings mentioned earlier, maybe that's one?
This is one of many products that is really bad about this. Similar to headphones, webcams, cables… just about everything on Amazon.

Also check out FakeSpot extension. With that said, yeah Amazon is riddled with fake/manipulated reviews for the landfill fodder from China.
Tell me more about how the Chinese knowing your body weight is part of a conspiracy to… know people's weight? I missed part of your statement because I was putting on my tinfoil hat.
I assume step 3 is Profit.

Unfortunately, these sites that offer "reviews" of products with affiliate links to Amazon are just about as hard to trust.
I've searched in the past for reviews on products, only to find dozens of different sites ranking the same products, all with affiliate links to Amazon, and it seems like none of them agree with which is the best (since they probably didn't even do much research, and are only in it for the affiliate money). Some of them even have a completely different list of products (for the same thing).
For example, a quick Google of "best smart scales" turned up this list towards the top, with a mostly different set of products vs. the Wirecutter article:

I can't take you seriously.

But yeah I agree it's dicey. Short of consumer reports and who even knows with them anymore.
