I just returned an open box excellent the other day which should've been an OB fair at best (no box, no stands, no remote). Found out it was a display model with over 8000 hours of screen on time (never turned off in almost a year). TV is amazing and this is a good deal, but I couldn't justify an OLED with that much usage. So if you go the open box route, make sure to check the usage hours.
The only thing missing from this TV is HDMI 2.1, but if you want an OLED with excellent picture quality then you're in the right place.
Only wanting a 55" OLED for gaming right now.
No 2.1 is a dealbreaker

and you're thinking the Russian and Chinese hacks didn't get any data on everyone?

You're already handing all your data on Facebook and the system you're using on a silver platter.
I use Apple and I've never had a Facebook account. Wouldn't dream of using that trash service. My data dispersion is minimal.

My PC is connected to my CX. If you have an RTX 3080 or above you can push a lot of games over 60hz. The next generation of graphics cards will likely take even further advantage of HDMI 2.1.

Of course my ps5 can output to 120 hz, but I don't know which games take advantage of that so far.

The answer is very few presently, but 120hz only really matters for a handful of games, namely FPS shooters like COD which do support 120hz now.

People keep TVs for at least 5 years on average. In 5 years 120hz will be extremely common for a number of video games like racing games and shooters. Fast-paced games benefit the most.

Seems like a good deal but with cx at 1350 and c1 at 1500 at Costco with extended warranty and the LG $100 promo. That seems like something to consider as well.

Any burn in warranties for this?
Best Buy's 5 yr with burn-in protection is $250 or UPSIE's 5 yr warranty (covers burn-in) for this TV is $146 after 10% first purchase discount. I've never used UPSIE for a TV warranty, but have been satisfied with cell phone warranty/claim.

Any reason to pass on this deal? I want a 55 inch oled and don't need it for gaming, just movies and tv. I don't feel like trying my luck on a refurb or a CX clearance opportunity. Costco by me has only had a few CXs lately and now the C1 is front and center. I'm thinking it will be a while before I see a better deal than this, prob gonna ponder this and order later today.
I have the 65 of this one also the CX, the Sony picture quality is better than CX, we do like the operation system and the remote from the LG more. Gaming wise, I am fine with both but I don't game a lot neither. So for movie/TV this is a good choice.

Android would really appreciate it if you could give them your data
Then you shouldn't use google products like maps, gmail, browser, and much more. You shouldn't even use any electronic devices because they all will get your data one way or another. Hide under a rock would be safer because during this time almost everything you use collecting your data.

You made the right choice. I was casually browsing Facebook Marketplace a few weeks ago, and I saw someone selling a 65" C9 OLED for $900. The owner had the TV for close to two years, and he put 5,000 hours on the panel. I thought about it, and decided it wasn't worth the risk. It had a year left with the CPS warranty, but I read a ton of horror stories with CPS so I avoid them. Hopefully the next open box OLED you buy is in much better shape.
I bought an OLED with significant burn-in on marketplace for $160 and used LG's 4-year burn-in coverage that they silently have, got a brand new panel installed by their tech for $167 of labor. So $327 brand new OLED (minus the old internals, but it's not gonna be used much).

That's pretty cool. I've heard people have had success with LG in the past, but I'm always leery about buying used products. I'm glad it worked out for you.

Did you see any burn-ins? If you did, how bad was it? For a display model, one would expect to see some burn-ins, especially one with 8000 hours straight.

Open box fair comes with warranty? I see one near me for $720. Not sure if it is a good price.
