Tips for longer usage:
1. Use PLASTIC/WOOD spatula
2. Remove leftover rice after your meal, add water to cover the bottom. Simply rinse and wipe the pot on the next day.
3. Never leave rice in the pot overnight
From my mother, proud owner of 1 Tiger rice cooker for more than 25 years
the "problem" is that when these Tiger or Zojirushi rice cookers are made in Japan, they frequently last 10, 15, or even 20 years.... if they don't break down, I have no excuse to buy another new one. I know someone who has a Zojirushi rice cooker that she bought way back in 1990 whey they were stationed in Japan. Still works just fine.(had dinner at her house a couple of months ago and it still made rice just fine)

it's not like a car that I can just park in a questionable neighborhood and leave the keys on the front seat
Here's the exact same model for those who prefer to pay double:

I mean the price on costcos website which including shipping is the same price as here so unless they are using the online price for slickdeals I would say it's the same price in the store.
I don't know how much this rice cooker is instore or even my local Costco sells it. I simply replied to OP why online prices are more expensive since he/she didn't know why. If the instore and online prices are same, that's great.

I picked up the JBV-10CU in warehouse this week. It says Made in Japan on the Box and On the back of the rice cooker.
Same price at the warehouse? Thanks!

I don't know the cooker has a built-in lithium battery that will last 4-5 years and it is not supposed to be user replaceable. Keep it or return?

This battery is used to keep the time when the unit is unplugged, so this is not a deal breaker for me. I can simply set the time again after I leave the unit unplugged for days.

It cooks rice just fine
The thing I don't like is the inner lid isn't removable for easy cleaning.

Instant Pot is great if you use it more than just cooking rice. But it can never replace a standalone rice cooker, especially from brands like Tiger or Zoji. The cooked rice quality is just not the same (we tried). I think it more or less has to do with the heat distribution and the computer logic it uses, although I'm not an expert on that part.
i have to agree with you....Huge fan of IP for everything but rice just isn't the same as our Zojirushi (which is at least 15 years old but still works like new). Zoji rice comes out absolutely perfect every time. IP rice is a total crapshoot.

Has anyone used the Tacook orange bowl with this or is it more of a gimmick? I watched a promo video of it on youtube and honestly it looked kinda cool how you could cook your veggies and meat at the same time as the rice. For someone who lives alone like me that was kind of intriguing so I thought I would ask.
It's not a gimick, it works. Just isn't a big basket, enough for 1 or 2 servings. It's there because if you put vegetables right into the rice the rice doesn't cook evenly and you get uncooked rice... don't ask me why I know this.

For those who plan to get it in the warehouse, the promo runs until Sunday August 15. I bought it last week and couldn't be happier about it. The rice comes out fluffier and moist. Just for a reference, I use jasmine long grain rice. You gotta read the instructions before cooking since for short grain rice, you have to use different setting. I haven't used other functions so far.

Just want to confirm, the one I bought made in Japan, clearly written in the box and in the product itself. Beside the outer panel's color, I don't know if there's any difference between the one sold in the warehouse and online.

The regular price at warehouse $89.99 compare to online price $10 more.
