Those ratings are not for continuous use, the rule for continuous use is 80% of the rated output from the outlet. So the MAX here is 16 AMP.
Great, thanks again!

Input plug is a NEMA 14-50, which most homes commonly use with a dryer. There are some smart 14-50 "splitters" that let you share a single receptacle out there too.
I've never seen a 14-50 standard in a house, 14-30 yes on multiple occasions.

NEMA 14-50 is mostly used for stoves, dryer plugs are usually 30Amp. Since this unit does not appear to have Amp selection it would be dangerous to use it on 30Amp dryer circuit. This EVSE needs wiring/receptacle to be at least 40Amp rated.
This is made for a 240 Volt 30 amp Dryer circuit for $350.

I've seen 14-50 for stoves, but they're not usually easy to access. Only time I've used one was working at a house that didn't have kitchen appliances yet

Very interested. Anyone have experience with this brand?

Also, anyone know the max charging rate of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt with Fast Charging? I found 32A as the max. Is that correct?

You can still use the 30Amp dryer outlet but the MAX the EVSE should draw is 24Amps. You would also need either a manually switched or automatic switched splitter since these outlets are not designed for frequent re-plugging. There are EVSEs on the market with selectable Amps, and some less expensive models top out at 24Amps.
Thanks again, if they'd let me rep you again I would. My parents 50 year old house has a free never used dryer socket cause they use a natural gas dryer with standard socket. The electrical in the house was never upgraded, so probably a good idea to have an electrician install a new one anyway if it's not too expensive to make sure the house doesn't burn down. But is there any way for a novice to know the amps for the dryer socket?

edit: dad sent a picture and it's a 10-30 outlet, can I assume it's a 30amp or could it be lower?

Hi, another question, will this 32 AMP charger work with a 20 AMP outlet and pull a max of 20 AMPs or will it require a 40 AMP one?

Only if if lets you select the amps it will pull. You normally only want to pull continuously 80% of outlet rating. So on a 20AMP outlet you only want to pull 16AMP. Some units determine the amps it will pull by what plug is used, by a physical switch on the board or sometime by soft selection. If that isn'y possible then do not use the charger on a plug rated for less than 20% more of the charger output (ie a fixed 32amp charger you would only want to use on a 40amp or above plug if you can't change the amps it will pull)
Reading over the description it looks like this unit is hardwired to a 14-50 plug so you will have to have one of those (usually on a 50amp breaker). In that case you'll want to buy the cheaper 16Amp charger also on sale from costco if you only have a 20amp outlet

I think you might be referring tothis one [costco.com] instead? It's $279 and currently $229 with $50 OFF which I actually just bought only because it's 20AMP. The one OP linked is 32 AMP.
Does anyone know if the cheaper one can charge with 16AMPs on 120v or does it default to 12?
Edit, based on they are calling the 120v adapter a NEMA 5-15 I assume it defaults to 12amps

Thanks for the great explanation! I ended up buying the cheaper one but thinking of getting the bigger one as well since I'll need an electrician to install an outlet for me either way so if if it won't be overly complicated to install a 50 amp breaker I might end doing just that.

From what I understood from the description is that it does default to 12 amp if using 120V

It's probably due to cost. All the UL certified chargers are in the $500-$700 range.

I considered the AxFast charger from Costco but just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger because of the lack of UL certification. I ended up buying the Juicebox instead from Costco for about twice the cost.

Ultimately, I couldn't get over the fact that saving a few hundred bucks wasn't worth losing the piece of mind of UL testing.

if the house is 50 years old your going to want to install a new line as you wouldn't want to be pulling 32 amps thru old wiring that has it's plastic falling apart. i know because that's what happened to our house. the wiring was so old that the casing was just falling apart and shorting out the wires in the ceiling. it kept blowing the glass screw fuses. luckily no fire in the ceiling.
also if the outlets aren't grounded most EVSE wont work.

Thanks and repped. I think I'll get some estimates and safety check first cuz I'm a little worried about the price to install a new outlet. After googling 10-30 convert to 14-50 a reddit thread popped up and the guy was quoted $5k which my parents would balk at and just buy an ice. I can't believe it's that expensive to install a outlet and circuit. But otherwise may just go slower charge to save the money from installing a new outlet and buy the 16 amp version that comes with a 10-30 adapter, so I'm guessing that charger is ok with ungrounded outlet and should be low enough amps to not burn the house down. https://www.costco.com/axfast-lev...89580.html
