Why do people still use quicken?
Doesn't mint and marcus insight provide same rather better services for free ?
Honest question... How does mint make their money? Are they like facebook and just hoover up your personal and financial information and sell to advertisers? Free normally means they collect your data and sell it. I don't know that quicken doesn't do the same thing, but at least they have a mechanism to pay their workers without using my private information. I have been using quicken since the DOS days, normally I would upgrade every 3 years, so the subscription does not really make me happy, but I use it to hold my CC, banks, investment houses, MSA and for the most case it just works and I have complete control of my data, and where I back it up.
15+ bank live data sync - yes.
Income vs expense reports - yes
category based expenses yes - auto categorization and budget reporting by
category by not just bank but all credit cards.

Plus it's a phone app so it stays in pocket.
all it takes is face unlock to check any report.

User allowed Customization is minimum but
it's free so doesn't hurt trying. And their reports are pretty neat.

Every time there is a Quicken deal, people crawl out of the woodwork and start talking about how they hate Quicken and Intuit (which, as has been pointed out, hasn't had anything to do with Quicken for several years).
....
On the other hand, if you want to integrate dozens of the financial institutions you deal with into one common interface, and download transactions as frequently as you want, the maybe this is for you. It just isn't practical to expect the same software to work with the constant multifactor and other security games that financial institutions play without have a team of software people keeping the product up-to-date, and that is what requires a subscription.
.....
Quicken meets my needs much better than anything else. It may not be what you need. That's OK.
Yes, I would agree in my case as well. I let my subscription expire (waiting for a discounted renewal option) and found that manually entering daily transactions to my dozens of accounts was a real PIA. $35 annually is worth it to save all the hassles of daily login's to all my accounts and manual entry of transactions.

I picked up the boxed version today and was able to use the code to extend my current subscription that was ending in October.

Were you able to import your 20-year Quicken history (data files) into MoneyDance?
I transferred ALL my Quicken transactions from my bank accounts and credit cards since 2000. I can download everything from the bank without problems, unlike the last Quicken version I used, 2017. Happy I changed to this software, never looked back.

I must have 20+ years of Quicken and am using the current Mac Subscription. I like to be able to see ai use to pay $19.99 for cable a month, and now many times that. Or search for Property Tax Payment. Or have loans, with their payments, and how many payments left. Quicken currently is a no brainer. If you have used quicken for a long time, and have had times where the bank or financial institution gives you an error. I find to not make any major changes until a day or two, and then contact Quicken and see if there is a change in your financial institution, that cause the error.

Occasionally you get a Quicken person, that is top notch. Almost as if they were the person writing the code. Or if they don't know they escalate. The other day my ONLINE Balance was off by one transaction when I wanted to do a reconcilliation. Because there was a deposit and spending for the same amount, it thru it off. But a simple deposit on the following day, corrected the ONLINE balance in what Quicken for Mac downloaded and all is good.

Going to pick up my Hard Copy of Quicken and see if it allows me to extend for another year. From the current Dec 3, 2021

In your feature-listing comment, above, to which software package are you referring? Mint [intuit.com]? Marcus Insight [marcus.com]? Quicken? (Something else?)

Yeah, I actually have the same genuine question. Is there any inherent value to using Quicken over like just Mint? Better integration into Quickbooks come tax time maybe?
Quicken is a Personal Financial Software... QuickBooks is for business.. they don't even integrate nor should they... You can't do Securities or track Stock basis in QuickBooks.... and Mint it far too simplistic for most people if you want to track any investments or customize the reports and data you need to manage your household finances.

So where or how did you add the new subscription code to the expired membership. My member ship expired about three months ago and It is real "work" to manually add everything in and I'm hoping I don't need to reinstall to reactivate
