But, The parental controls and remote management are excellent. I use these unit just to do the routing and get a cheaper mesh system.
its coming in SRM 1.3. Synology Router Manager is currently at 1.2.5 I believe....
been in merlin firmware with asus-mesh,
I have one dedicated "linux router" and 3 tmobile AC1900 (flash with asus mesh capabilty with merlin-asus) 1 AP with 2 nodes
old asus-mesh version was not good, but recent 2-3 years are solid for me,
if you have tmobile AC1900 (with mesh capability), make SURE to use wire backhaul due to tmobile AC1900 has dual not triple channel ( one channel for wireless backhaul).
bough years back for "cheap" $60, $40, $40 :-D.

well spent for $140 for 3 in the past for me.

But, few things.
Which mesh router comes as single unit.
After using Orbi RBR50 mesh with satellite for more than two years.
Which in general really good, except I noticed with mesh network, Chromebooks and few other devices having difficulty connecting them.
After using it for more than two years, I think, I found mesh network a overrated.
After using Asus routers for years, I can tell that they are best routers and I am planning to go back to Asus AX6000, just waiting for a deal.
Plus I can use my old Asus router as A-mesh system.
I also have 20 +iot smart devices and security cameras on my mesh network too.

I have read some review comments saying 1) the internet traffic would be under surveillance through connection to Synology's app and 2) there is an agreement that you need to accept that PRC/China is allowed enter your premises, search through your books, files, records, and papers so that PRC may confirm for themselves that you are not stealing their software.
While security and Networking is not my specialty... I regularly work shoulder with those teams.
For home use Synology is excellent. They have had far less code exploits than Qnap or Cisco. The routers have built in IDS/IPS, add in cloudflare anti-malware DNS, and block foreign connections... And I don't think you can find a better consumer grade secure router.
Unless you want to dedicate hardware to pfsense or take something home from work this is a great solution.
I have an AC2600 and two of these mesh Synology's I use as wireless bridges for 4k streaming off my Synology and I never have buffering issues.
These are a great value for the cost.
