Leaving aside the fact that there is not much out there that actually uses WiFi 6E, this appears to be the lowest price for a WiFi 6E triband mesh router for those in the market for a new router in this price range

Back when smallnetbuilder reviewed this, it was very fast but it had latency issues. Has the latency improved?

I tried a bunch and kept going back to the Orbi (costco carries a 3pk). It's not perfect but it has been much better than anyone else.

Is this a one pack and if you need a mesh you need to buy multiple?

One pack. You can buy more and create a mesh network.

here, here!

I only tried the TP-link and Orbi - and the Orbi is better.. at least you can control everything 100% in the web ui... even though the UI looks like it was designed in the late 90's. Seriously, the Microsoft Router, for those that remember it, had a better UI.

#1 thing I love about the Orbi, is that it advertises itself as the DNS server, and does lookups against whatever your upstream DNS is. In my case, this means that the guest network also has the benefit of going through my piHole, which is on the internal network.

Full local control, and ability to use piHole on guest network are VERY hard to find on any other mesh system.

The TP-Link doesn't even have a true guest system - it's just a second broadcast with a different password, and it has full access to the LAN. At least on the Deco-9 series there was no way to control it.

Gud info: https://dongknows.com/linksys-mr7500-hydra-pro-6e-router-review/

Not even worth $150 IMO. Only 1 USB port and 4 WANs??? Also slowass NAS performance. Power users with servers, NAS, etc just STAY AWAY from this pile of crap!

The range is okay, but definitely not great. Since I got the 3 pack, it was okay to get general coverage but I'm surprised that I needed 3 to cover my 2000 sq ft home when WIFI 6 claims up to a much larger coverage. Also, the WIFI can't make it to my second floor so one of the mesh needed to be there -- they're almost vertically stacked on top of each other spatially but it was the only way to get a signal to my second floor.

Firmware updates are always hit and miss which is the biggest thing; they need to do a better job at QAing before release. On my first set, one of the satellites just literally died on firmware update and won't start up (Thanks for the return policy, Costco!). I would recommend turning off auto update and search the forums before updating anything (or don't fix it if it ain't broke).

The set I'm running on has been pretty solid, but I have had to reboot the group probably once every 3 months or so which isn't that bad.

Sometimes the Orbi app doesn't find the system for some reasons so I have to try a few times before I can get in and reconfigure something; the web UI works flawlessly though.

Is orbi tri band?
I believe the Orbi RBK852 (AX6000, 2 pack) is tri-band. My phone and laptop can connect to the router @ 1.2Gbps and when in the same room, maxes out my internet at 800mbps on WiFi. Very solid router and easy to setup. But also very pricey.

You don't need a mesh network for such a tiny house. Just get a good router and you're fine.

Even the other $150 Costco deal will be just fine, unless you absolutely need the third band.
