Thought I'd add my experience:

I spent >30mins at my local BB - short(ish) version, in no particular order:

1. This doesn't show up in their internal ("Blue" something?) site under any kind of trade-in promo.
2. No one (right up to the Mgr) at the store knew anything about this.
3. This does show up under the Recycling take-ins page.
4. As indicated by others on this thread, it shows up under a cordless phone recycling take-in.
5. Even though the text of the promo itself states "storage device," the person helping me initially insisted that I therefore needed to turn in a cordless phone (she wasn't clear on whether it was in addition-to or in-lieu-of a storage device).
6. After further consultation with yet-more in-store personnel, they agreed that it simply meant a storage device, sans cordless phone.
7. Nobody knows why it's under a cordless phone recycling take-in.
8. They had to fill out a form for law enforcement indicating how my storage device being recycled was obtained, from where, approx when, and agreeing that I will not get it back.
9. I dunno if item 8 applies everywhere or was just a quirk where I live.
10. I had 4 "storage devices" with me and asked the intake person to choose which one they want to take (2x flash cards, 2x USB sticks).
11. They didn't seem to care which they take, which implies that flash cards are/were acceptable, at least at my location.
12. Everything above will likely need to be run through all over again each time someone else tries this.
13. The printed coupon does indeed state "SINGLE USE. In store only" and "Offer valid 8/8/2021 - 1/29/2023"
14. I did try the UPC string as an online code and it wasn't accepted (was worth a try)

Hope that helps someone!
A brief anecdote from my experience trying this out today in-store:
I took a 4GB SD card to customer service, and after some messing around, they were able to get me a 15% coupon.

I grabbed a WD_BLACK SN750 1TB, on sale for $119.99. This is basically the lowest price from a regular retailer that I've seen. The kind employee that checked me out was a Supervisor, and the 15% coupon wouldn't scan. She did a manual override, because "you seem to know more about this than I do" Very friendly, got my discount and good to go.
Please do not dispose of old electronics this way. Many towns have e-recycling options for free/cheap. This is very bad for your local community (water specifically) if you let it go to standard trash due to the many chemicals in electronics.

Monitors, in particular, contain lead (lbs of it for CRT) or mercury (LCD). https://earth911.com/recycling-guide/how-to-recycle-computer-monitors/

As a former best buy employee, they do recycle their e-waste. It does not go to standard trash.

Just confirmed that the deal shows up under cordless phones on the recycling page.

Also have them print it as the email doesn't include the code.

You might have been misled by the reply being the top comment. He wasn't discouraging anyone from recycling at Best Buy, he was admonishing one of the employees of a recycling center who suggested the customer put electronics in the trash if he didn't want to pay their recycling fee. Agreed, putting electronics in the trash is not only bad for the environment but is illegal in several states. That being said, charging for LCD screens is a standard practice, but it is generally a cost saving measure on part of the recycling center (to past costs to the consumer) since BestBuy and Staples will recycle for free.

As for the deal at hand, YMMV. The Best Buy employees at my store were only able to pull up printer recycling and not cordless phones.

Thank you for this confirmation. You are the first actual person in this whole thread with a real account of not only redeeming this deal, but purchasing something with it at a nice discount as a suggestion.

The 15% off, as others have stated, is useless if qualifying items are marked up 25% over other retail options anyway. I do like buying from Best Buy physically though because I've never received a fake product versus Amazon.

Suggestions to add the discount on:
- WD - WD_BLACK SN850 1TB Internal PCIe Gen 4 x4 Solid State Drive - On Sale for $199.99 ($30 off) - Highest discount I can think of
- WD - WD_BLACK SN750 NVMe 1TB Internal PCIe Gen 3 x4 Solid State Drive - $119.99 - Good for PS5 update coming soon to increase internal storage
- WD - WD_BLACK P10 4TB External USB 3.2 Gen 1 Portable Hard Drive - Black - $109.99 ($20 off) - Good for external storage
- WD - WD_BLACK P10 For Xbox 3TB External USB 3.2 Gen 1 Portable Hard Drive - Black With White Trim - Xbox Branded 3TB for $109.99

Someone's gotta take one for the team!
I don't think the WD_BLACK SN750 is going to work in a PS5. It's fast alright, but only PCIe gen 3.

I don't recall exactly, but I thought it said sometime in 2022.

I recycled my dead harddrive to get the 15% then used it to get a Nintendo Sandisk 256 microsd card that was on sale for $54 for $46. Not huge savings since it was already on sale but at least my Best Buy let me stack it with another discount. As a warning the Best Buy guys don't really know this deal and it is not straight forward in their system but they were able to print it out. Because the vague details of "eligible storage" YMMV probably as to whether they honor it on which item or if on sale.

Anyone know if the code can be used for online purchases or only in store? I know the trade in has to be done in store. Looking at this drive but there are no 2tbs for sale in local area and its on sale now.

Only in store according to the coupon you get. I dunno if you can order in store for future pick up though

What is considered an " eligible storage device"? Does it have to be working? Does it have to be a hard drive or can it be a microsd card or thumb drive? I wish they would give us details before we go to the store.

It was difficult to convince anyone at best buy that this was really a promotion. Took about 20 minutes, not sure it was worth the effort.
