unfortunately no, Dell uses proprietary motherboard/power supply/case for this pc.
08-31-2021 at 10:05 AM
technically yes, but it is not standard ATX and will require case mods/cutting metal.

This would make an excellent Plex server. The 11th gen quicksync is very good at transcoding 4k and HEVC streams. You can easily sell 1660 video card for 300.00 .

Yes to both. You want one of the AMD APUs for that. HP has some computers with APUs that are pretty good.

The CPU in this system is very fast, and the storage, being SSD, is also. In addition to that, this system comes with a gaming video card. But your question was about photos, which does not need a very fast CPU or fast storage. You should be more interested in what application you use to modify your pictures, such as crop or change intensity, or even combining pics. You should also have a real monitor, and not just the small screen of a laptop. I would recommend using a 24" monitor.

I would recommend the tool called Paint Shop Pro (PSP) by Corel as an alternative to the very expensive Adobe tool. You can get the PSP one of two levels back for a very reasonable price.

I recently bought a very similar system from Dell, but without the video gaming card. It has been spectacular. I do photos, although I do not change them much, or get creative. I have over 80,000 photos (278 GB), all from real cameras, going back to when the camera was not a digital one!

Be sure to format and do a clean windows install because the bloatware nearly bricked my 8940
Click 'Start > Settings > Update & security > Recovery' and then choose 'Get started' under 'Reset this PC'. A full reinstall wipes your entire drive, so select 'Remove everything' to ensure a clean reinstall is performed.

Finally got in on this deal. I have a RX480 8gb card in my current machine, should I sell that or should I sell the 1660? I am going to go do my own research but I'd like to hear others opinions as well.

The 1660 is about 13% faster than the RX 580 8GB, the RX 480 performs really similar to the RX 480. In my opinion, sell the RX 480.

Typing this from my 8940 as we speak! Was a great deal stacked with cash back and Amex statement credit. Sold the 1660 and use integrated graphics, nearly free desktop!

AMA, will try to answer them.

Bought the 2060 version back in March. I am a casual gamer, most of it is Warzone, Stadia and some battlefield. Playing on an ultrawide 3440 x 1440 screen, games are >60fps. Bought this mostly for work (photo editing) and it works great for that.

Oh boy. I'm here for the comments on how trashy this system is. It's been flooded on others posts like this.

I've been out of the game for awhile, is there a good walkthough for the clean install? I don't want to deal with all dell's crap.
