I see the RSIM on eBay. But will the RSIM be needed to update with every iOS release? How would this be done? Thanks.
They can stop working anytime if apple blocks the loophole. Thats why they are cheap.

But add on the cost of 12 months service with TW and your total cost becomes closer to $600. You can get a good condition 11 with more memory for less than that! Then get a prepaid option for $100 and it will be very similar final price

Any workarounds for RSIM unlock for use with sprint?
If you get a T-Mobile SIM (TNX) from Sprint, then you might be able to use an RSIM unlock with a TNX T-Mobile SIM.

You would still need to update the IMEI on your Sprint account to the XR and then feed it the SIM.

Untested, but a TNX SIM is a standard T-Mobile SIM other than the IMEI update requirement on the Sprint account side.

Keep in mind the iPhone XR uses the somewhat-missed-and-cancelled Intel modem tech.

It does have Band 71 / 600 MHz, but it is regarded as the worst radio out there that does this.

So... yeah. Even the iPhone 11 and 2020 SE have significant reception improvements thanks to a much better Intel modem. And waiting for Qualcomm modems to return in the next year to the SE and others may be a better option.

I'm still setting people in rural parts up with iPhone 7's and 8's for the Qualcomm modem.

Anyone wanting to use Airtags should note that you can't use precision location with any iPhone X, XR, etc. Just wanted to mention it because I was surprised by this.I figured XRs would be good recent enough to use all of the features of Airtags. Has to be 11 or above.

Also can't be the SE, as it lacks the ultra wide band chip like pre-11 iPhones.

There are 3 options of carriers with these deals. Which one is easier to unlock with rsim or the other option.

It will work, just watch YouTube, it's easy... But if not return it to Walmart
Everyone here seems to be talking about unlocking this phone and taking it to T-Mobile or AT&t maybe. No one's been able to confirm if this phone can be unlocked and taken to Verizon?

I did a little bit of googling and it looks like there may be two versions of the XR one with GSM chips only and one with GSM and CDMA. And it may depend on which provider you purchase it from. Since this is a discount provider of the T-Mobile network, does anyone know or can confirm that this phone can work on Verizon?

I have a family account with a few xr's on them. What exactly is wrong with the xr's? We use Tmobile and so far have had no issues. Hoping that T-Mobile has a crazy upgrade deal for the 13 so I can trade these in

Thank you

Upgraded a few users to the 12 when they had the Mother's Day iPhone 8 trade in deal but the 5g is horrible around here.

Check the total wireless / simple mobile xr deals. I believe a few people got it to work on verizon using the 'soft unlock' method

yes, that's what I'm doing
I'm a little bit confused. If Apple will only give you a trade-in value of $240, and the phone costs the same, what is the value in buying this as a trade-in phone?

By firmware do you mean the latest iOS update?
Also which version of RSIM are you using? Is it RSIM 13, 14, 15 or 16. Thanks.
Yes that's correct. I used RSIM 15. I say used because there was a Slickdeals post of someone mentioning that they were able to soft unlock their iPhone without having to have the RSIM inside the phone. Here's the post if you're curious:
