There are many many guides that are more up to date if you do a quick search.
In short. You will be able to get it working but you need some extra software which can be had for free.

First you want to make sure your PC can handle the rift games. Oculus and steam VR have a test that you can run beforehand.
Then, you need a way to connect. You can either use the official link cable or a high-quality USB C cable, or go wireless.
Wireless is obviously better from an immersion perspective, though if you play for a long time you'll need a battery pack to attach to the quest. Also, for wireless really to work well, you need a dedicated 5 GHz access point in the same room. In fact, I put all my other access points in the house on 2.4 GHz so as not to interfere. Make the dedicated access point its own wireless network and only allow the quest to connect to it. All other household devices go on the other access points. You also need a way to pair it with your PC. Traditionally, this was done via the virtual desktop app which is a paid app, but now you can do with Oculus Airlink which is free under the beta features. Some people have had problems, but it worked fine in my use. Enable the Airlink under Beta/experimental settings in both quest and PC Oculus app. Then it will let you pair and play.
Regardless of the method you choose, once you are paired and in rift mode, you can hit play on the steam app on your PC to start the game. After you've played it once, it will appear in your rift home so you can just click on it with the touch controller to start it up without taking the headset off.

CyberPowerPC - Gamer Master Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT - 1TB HDD + 500GB SSD I'll give it a go again and I'll try disconnecting anything connecting to the 5ghz connection to see if it helps, as last time I tried I didn't try disconnection all the devices I had on that channel.
Thank you for the info

ps if you ever increased the bitstream in the Oculus debug tool... set it back to default... this is a common source of lag for wireless
