As many of you know, the first version of the HP Reverb G2 headset has many cable issues with the biggest issue being connectivity on X570 AMD chipsets. I pulled the trigger on my purchase based on the following info stating that all new Reverb G2s come with the updated cable and that the old cable has been deprecated and replaced: https://www.reddit.com/r/HPReverb...d_al
I can confirm that my headset arrived with the new cable.
I am using an MSI MAG Tomahawk Wi-Fi motherboard with the AMD X570 chipset and a Ryzen 5800X. First I tried plugging the headset into the USB-C port on the motherboard but it was not recognized and didn't seem to fully seat due to the I/O shield on the MB, so I used the supplied USB-C to USB-A adapter and plugged it into a USB 3.1 10Gb port and it worked perfectly. No issues at all and the difference is night and day between this and my old Oculus CV1. I also have a 58mm IPD and with the headset in the smallest 60mm setting it works perfectly for me. Hope this helps if anyone is on the fence like I was.

decided to jump in even though I already own the Samsung Odyssey and Odyssey+ headsets which I love.
hopefully this is a step up. was intrigued by the additional cameras and hopefully they help.
