Yeah, my recommendation, and this is going to sound sarcastic or mean but I swear it's not, is to learn to run. I used to be in the same boat, I bought the cushiest shoes because my knees would hurt after just a couple miles, turns out I actually wasn't running correctly. You need to land with most of your weight on the front half of your foot, this allows your calf muscles to take care of 90% of the cushioning you need, it's how people run marathons in those silly individual-toe barefoot shoes. I, and I presume you, are landing on your heel, which drives a huge amount of force directly to your knees-- not healthy. Youtube it, running might seem like the absolute most basic form of human movement but it's still something you need to learn to do, and once you do you can go farther, faster, while preventing injury.

Once you get that out of the way, and as I was learning this stuff I was running in Nike React Milers which are wildly comfortable (especially for people with arches like me) and quite springy. Good luck.

one of my favourite shoes of all time. I like these better than my carbon x 2s. The endorphin speeds aren't very durable though. sole will start to peel sub 50 miles. amazing energy return

How is this deal not getting love over the other posts for the same shoe at a higher price?

I am looking to start running. My knees get sore easily so I'd like cushion. I don't care about time. I would like shoes to have some longevity.
Any recommendations?

If you're looking for a super cushy ride, these are not your shoe.
They're essentially a race shoe, and are pretty plush for a lightweight go fast shoe but still nothing like a typical hoka or brooks glycerin or NB 1080.
They are an excellent shoe for someone who wants one pair to do everything.
Decent for high mileage while still being very fast.

Joe's new balance has fresh foam more v2 for $80.
Excellent shoe, decent durability.
Hoka Clifton also a solid choice.

This is all assuming you have a neutral gait.
If you really care go to a running shoe store and have them help you figure out if you're an overpronator underpronator or neutral.
Or do research online and figure it out for yourself.

If you pay via PayPal you will get free returns. Easy to do, just print a return postage label.
(up to $30 on 12 eligible purchases/year) *the $30 is postage cost, not what the cost of shoe was/is.

Just ran my first 14 miles in a pair of these. Honestly - it's my favorite shoe now. I run about 100-150 miles/month and have tried many of the brands and variants of shoes.

Speed is easily best running shoes 2020. I also had Shift, but I need to warn you, that even Shift is designed as slow/long run shoes, it has the tendency to push you running fast. I guess the reason is Pro, Speed, and Shift are sharing the same platform. The shape of the shoes make toe off a lot easy and fast.
