I think I'd still rather pay 50 bucks more for new at Costco but not bad deal.

Shockingly the 8GB M1's crush everything I throw at it. I have a dozen tabs open, Xcode with large projects and simulators running, and the fan has yet to kick in. All driving 2- 32" 4K monitors.

On the flip side my 2019 i7 32GB 16"MBP is a house fire waiting to happen.

That's an Intel processor that complaint is about.

These Apple Silicon machines are so different from Intel Macs (and PCs) they may as well be from another time.

The GPU and CPU share ram on the same die and therefore don't have to copy / read to shared memory spaces on a different bus like Intel computers.

I'd say the Costco warranty is really an additional 3 years not 4 (Apple already includes a 1 year warranty at no charge). But 3 more years is nothing to sneeze at.

I know, just another example of people hating on these machines without even knowing what they're talking about.

Not directly as the architecture is different, But with this software you can:

4 year warranty if you get it at Costco using their Citi card. Costco extends warranty by a year and then Citi extends another 2 years. Not to mention their 90 day no questions asked return policy.
They told me doesn't apply to Apple products. You get 1 year additional. 2 years total.

Someone fact check me, anything else but Apple

From what I can tell, it's tablets that are not eligible for the Costco warranty extension. I couldn't find anything excluding Apple computers. Maybe someone can correct me.

Which can be upgraded and components changed out. The Mac doesn't even have an SSD. It's got flash memory. If the motherboard dies, there goes your data. Poof! And no adding RAM. It's one big soldered monstrosity. Impossible to repair. All to make more profits at the expense of customers. Steve Jobs would never have allowed it.

Oh, and the $400 Acer Aspire I bought this year had an open drive bay and user-upgradeable SSD and RAM.

I've been a Mac guy since System 7. My mid 2015 MBPro may be the last Mac for me.
You cannot indefinitely upgrade. If you upgrade all parts you just bought a new computer in the same old shell!

And acer sucks! Cleverly ignored writing about your shitty processor in your $400 acer.

Mac m1 will definitely smoke your $400 acer even with all your upgrades.

This does not apply to Mac m1 because of completely different architecture. Basically spreading misinformation.
