This is not how it works... You have half gig speed meaning 0.5 gigaBITs per second. This is read/write at 1 gigaBYTE per second.

There are 8 bits in 1 byte. So if you want to compare the speed, it would actually be ~16x slower to download vs transfer from this drive into internal PS5/XSX console.

dang they added another $20 discount while it's supposed to be on discount this month? i've never seen that at costco. Can anyone confirm? I also just purchased one at costco this week. Gonna go see if I can return or get price matched.

I'm going to be using it for both the PS5 and XSX. You can store PS4 and PS5, XB1 and XSX games on it, but you can't play the next-gen games from these. You just have to move them back to the internals.

Bought 2 instore. They work great, super fast, put my entire Lightroom catalog on them and they work as well as if the photos were on the ssd on the desktop even when editing. Did notice them getting warm but not too hot, this was after several hours of transferring files onto them.

Another reason I returned the Macbook Air M1 Best Buy $749 deal.

I'm sure it is good for those "all in" on everything Apple including their desktptops/laptops, but I had so many problems with basic things and I'm just talking browsing, MS Office, ADOBE!!!, memory error messages (check MacForums it's a big issue with 8gb M1.)

Maybe I was doing something wrong. I'm not discounting user unfamiliarity but I do know how to do research and get to workarounds.

Can I use this on an iMac ? As a permanent storage (ie: move documents/desktop/user library ) into this ? Not meant to boot from it, just hold my regular files… (and perhaps move the swap file to this?)

Here's the model number SDSSDE61-1T00-AC at Costco and SDSSDE61-1T00-G25 at BestBuy. if they tell you it doesn't exist, it's not true. It will come up on search exactly as that. The AC and G25 appear to be the retailers way of creating "mis-matched" model numbers, but the first set of digits are the actual model and last set for retailer ID.

i had a 5 TB hdd just die. Had a lot of important files.

It's a gut punch. The drive was always stationary never anything around it. I mean no shaking or anything that would cause it to fail.

Will getting an SSD nearly eliminate any chance of failure like this

Guess what if you only have one backup of important files you don't really have a backup. Alway use a minimum of two methods of backing up ur data. Just because it's a SSD doesn't mean it will not fail. I use SSDs and web base storage. Believe I know im a wedding photographer and I can't afford a drive failing on me with no backup.

whats a good cloud storage to hold TB at least of storage and at what cost?
