Saw this deal in the "last chance" section of the Costco app. Seems to be a great price and includes 5 years of warranty without using a Costco Visa. ( May add 2 extra years for 7 total? YMMV). Also Includes a bonus 6 months of Showtime for free.

bigger is not always better. And if you ever seen center DSE on Samsung, you really hate it. Bigger panels have issues. Some Samsungs have center DSE. Bad place to have DSE in the center. You will see it on panning like in soccer games and hockey.

When they make microled backlight, then we will not see this. The 9000 is not really better than the 8000 units.

Gray uniformity on our Samsung RU9000 is decent; however, this can vary between individual units. The sides are visibly darker and there's some dirty screen effect at the center of the screen. There's also a bit of flashlighting in the bottom corners of the screen, but it isn't visible in regular content. Uniformity is much better in dark scenes.

I bought this about 6 months ago off a random Costco return that was out on the floor by itself. It's a great TV, more apps than some previous models of Samsung, and the extended 3 year warranty is great. I would say that coming from a similar 75" Samsung that was 3 years older, the difference in picture is not insane. Don't get me wrong, it's a good TV…but the difference between a 75 to 82 isn't terribly noticeable. Great price if you're in the market for an 82" though!

How is this compared to the TU700D 82" Samsung that some stores still have in stock for $1199?

Overall, the RU9000 rates quite a bit better the the TU7000/TU700D. The RU9000: gets brighter, has better reflection handling, has a wide color gamut, has a native 120Hz panel with much quicker response time and VRR support, can remove 24p judder from any source, and has 2 more HDMI ports. IMO, these advantages alone are well worth the extra $100.
