The main thing I like about these is form factor , weight , and the transparency mode is really good, usually you'll hear a tinny noise in transparency mode on most noise canceling buds. I don't know anything about the Sony XM4's though, The Air Pods also just work well obviously with an Iphone. The noise cancellation is decent, not amazing, but I think they're better for travel or public transportation. so hope some of this helps.

I had to buy comply foam tips for these to stay in my ear, but they are comfortable. I use them for studying so I needed the noise canceling, and they have not disappointed.

These are Significantly more comfortable In my opinion
The original ones hurt after a while
These sit without ear fatigue

Best to go try them out at apple, since fit is very personal. That being said these fit way better in my ears than the original AirPods and don't fall out. Also they sound a lot better.
