This is rated as the best all-around "standard speed 15MPH scooter" for under $500 for 2020. I researched every scooter available and watched almost every YouTube review for sub $500 scooters (I watched hundreds of videos!) and this was the model that was most consistently recommended as being the best value for the money which is why I bought it November 2020 and have used it almost every day since then. It has the battery in the base instead of the stem for better weight distribution, the high battery capacity give this scooter equal range to many $500-$800 models, it has features like cruise control that most cheaper scooters don't have, it has a digital readout showing your speed in 1/10th MPH increments, 4 bar battery meter, has a bright white headlight and red taillight for night riding which also blinks when braking, tires come pre-filled with Slime from the factory for good flat prevention since scooter tires/tubes are a huge pain to change, and has rear disc brake but it is pretty weak and needs a little adjustment ouf of the box to work well. The next step up would be about $800 for scooters that go 18MPH with only slightly better range but are usually a bit heavier, then $1200-$1400 for the scooters that go about 28MPH with nice wide tires and full suspension...and of course you can't forget the Rion Thrust for $8500 that goes 80MPH lol!

pretty sure 99% of scooters wouldn't work if you're 500lbs lol

Battery on my GKS died under 1 year. Battery price is the same as a new scooter bummer - done with GOTRAX.

Near the coast highly likely. In the middle states not likely. They are much more cultured and civilized than their coastal neighbors, so I have been told.

Great scooter and deal to try one out. I bought 2 XR Ultras for $240 each and am very happy. Getting low teens for range.... Which gets to the brewery and back!
I want to use one of these for that. Where do you put your scooter while in the brewery ?

Anyone know about removing the limiter on these? My initial reddit search says short of replacing the computer in it there's nothing you can do. One guy mentioned putting larger tires on it which I might give a shot

Small u lock that just fits the base. Can't get it past the rear wheel and can't get it past the front. Combined with a chain your ok for short durations.

I have a XR Elite, and the Hover 1 Blackhawk from the Walmart deal. Love the Hover 1, no regrets for $250! Faster with more range...
I got the hover 1 dynamo. 250w is weak on hills if you weigh 200. Lol. Expect some assistance. but it was 149...

Is people messing with the battery a thing? I saw a post where a guy said that's a thing that can happen but idk seems incredibly unlikely

Is it possible? Sure. The easiest way to mess with someone Is to cut the control wires if exposed. You can crack off the lcd screen if you wanted to.

Question in a different vein - is this with air tires? From what I understood from the Hover 1 and the M360, tires are near-impossible to replace and it's good, until you get a flat.

Is this one similar? it's the only thing stopping me from buying this.

The stem/bars fold down horizontally and it clips to the rear fender so it is easy to carry around using the stem as the handle. It is surprisingly fast to charge only taking 60mins if the battery is at 33% or 90-100mins if it is nearly empty. I keep it in my closet by my front door, or in my trunk of my car, or in the broom closet at work. It takes up about the same amount of space as a small narrow golf bag. As long as there is a place to charge it at the gym or work then you're good since it fully charges from 0% to 100% in under 2hrs and it's range is over 15mi so you'll have no problem as long as the gym or work is less than 15mi each way.
I'm always worried that it will be stolen from outside the gym. I would ideally like to use to to go to the gym in summer, fall but hesitant because of horror stories I've heard of and locks that are easily broken.
