No idea but probably not...any limitations would occur before the signal comes out of the hdmi cable from the roku.....plex offers the option to force 6 channel audio no matter what the device reports but since I'm just connecting to a soundbar in front of a treadmill 2.0 is fine with me. I bought these specifically to upgrade my older soundbar's so the players and tv's could still use arc but sound would go to the soundbar's...$10 beats paying $70+ for a new soundbar that doesn't have half the connection options my insignia models do (bluetooth, aux(dual rca in), opt(toslink), coax etc.
I appreciate you clarifying that....I thought my treadmill was blocking the tv powering on, on occasion (tv powers up from arc connection using roku remote power) so thought it was IR but RF makes alot more sense and lets you hide it wherever....velcro however is not strong enough to hold it with cables hanging off it. Ask me how I know.
Oh and I'll admit my unit is getting pretty warm...not burn your hand warm but warmer then I would have expected....has not affected usability and since I just added wired ethernet it will be interesting to see if that generates less heat.
