The GW 9052, probably looks the best on wrist of all g shocks, is featured in a lot of movies, and was issued to US military for years. Retails for $69.95 and you can usually find it new for less than $50. Dwayne Johnson wearing a GW 9052 [rocketcdn.me].
The GW 7900 is solar and has atomic radio sync. It looks incredible and is commonly used by military, and because of this is used even more in cinema. Solar is a big boost, as taking the back off a g-shock to replace a battery permanently reduces its water resistance. Retails for $149.95 but you can often find it for less than $90. Michael B Jordan wearing a GW 7900 [sfexaminer.com].
Get one of these two and you have G Shock syndrome covered, IMO.

Opening the back to replace a battery "permanently reduces its water resistance"???
That would mean every Rolex to whatever else would leak water the moment the back was open for any reason.
I disagree.
IF the watch shop is not following proper procedure opening and closing the watch when replacing a battery, it'll leak.
Otherwise, no good reason why it would - seal's intact, screws properly tightened.
The biggest problem in America is they don't do it right most of the time.
The o-ring seal isn't even replaced with a new one as it ages! Duh!
Much better service in the home country of Japan....
