Expect these to be garbage. I've gotten a freebie like this from MC before from their mail ad and they die very fast. Very very slow writes, and if you speed test it immediately bricks. I wouldn't trust it to even store a Windows ISO for install without corruption. Any file that goes onto these devices should be assumed to be corrupted. Spend a few dollars for trust. Get their free SSD from yesterday, put it into a USB enclosure, and use that. These sticks are pure ewaste.

I would opt for the micro SD card because its write speed is 3 times faster than the flash drive. Flash drive is 5MBps, ouch.

you should always have a backup for important data and never rely on a flash drive / micro sd card alone. i always see them as temporary storage.
