I have the Pro version of this watch and I love it. The difference between the Pro and non Pro is minimal. The Pro has better weather sealing and more GPS for more accurate tracking.
If you want a multi-media do it all watch this is NOT for you.
-Notification is minimal, you can only receiver the notification, you can reply back from the phone. You can only read text message.
-No multimedia (can't play music or control music from watch)
-Limited watch face
If you want a "tough G-Shock" style watch to keep track of time, notification, monitor your work out stats when working out and a good GPS, this watch is great for it.
The battery life on this is great but you won't get 20 days with this unless you don't work out. I go on 6+ hours hike with the watch tracking, and when I get home I will have about 50-60 % left on the battery. I haven't been on hikes due to the fire in Cali and I get about a 10 days worth of battery with normal notification and "always on" face.
It's supposed to be 20 days, which is pretty close to what it does do. I keep mine on always on display during work, and turn off the always on when at home, and I charge every week or 10 days. And even then I am still somewhere around 20%. The software is not as good as Wear OS, but it it a pretty tough little watch. I have cracked a screen protector, but not hurt the watch, and I wear it and it takes a beating daily. The sleep app I have questions about every once and a while, as far as being accurate, but other functions do well. Not as good as my Garmins, but not as expensive either.
Don't get the camo green. The band material is completely different. It's like a hard rubber. Very hard to put on. Had to return it got arm green instead. It's more like a softer silicone band. Much easier to put on.

The battery life is what I like about the bip. But then all I need is a water proof step counter, a silent alarm and no thoughts about battery.

Then this might suit you well. Steps, heart rate, water proof, compass and others are great. And waking up to the vibrate versus a ring tone waking the wife up is nice too. The battery would probably last the claimed 20 days if I wouldn't use the always on feature 9 hours out of the day, but with gloves on or dirty hands having it always on keeps me from getting junk on it or my phone, and that is worth running down the battery faster for me.
The gts 2 mini is also on sale for $85. I ordered that yesterday but am considering returning it and ordering this. Anyone in the know of differences between the 2 watches? Especially interested in fitness tracking, controlling media and gps
I just purchased this a few days ago and thought $99 was retail. I used my key and $15 discount on this. I got the watch to compliment my Garmin instinct which I wear daily. That is the first watch I know I will replace oz. For oz. I also have one fo the latest Samsung watches with cellular.
I personally can't find real uses for the smart watches that do everything. I don't want to take a call on it and don't use the multimedia features at all on them. What I will most is battery life. I want to be able to use the watch for GPS and actual tracking of my vitals daily without having to charge it daily. And I don't use GPS all the time, I have to be doing something very specific with it hiker walk where I need GPS for vitals. Outside of that I use a Garmin etrex or other Garmin GPS tracking on the map for that type of stuff. So my watch strictly does vitals and GPS only for a long bike ride or hike where I don't care for mapping.
I have yet to use a t-rex, but I thought this deal was for the pro I was about to say I'm about to send that thing back and get the pro version. But for everything I've seen, and what I'm going to be using for her, the pro does not add more than what I'm getting with the t-rex. And the T-Rex only has a color display over my instinct... I still think that T-Rex is going to be used more in my Samsung smartwatch. I really don't care for big bright color screen because it actually interferes with hunting. That's where the instinct shines so much. That screen is displayed all day and the ink is fantastic

No wear OS....no need for it. Software will be a joke.
Some people actually workout and do outdoor activities. You should try it sometime. This is a gps activity type watch going against Garmin, suunto and polar. Not everyone wants a wear or apple watch nor needs the features they bring to the table.
Outside of notifications, I don't really care for smart watch features.
