I wore freerun non and flyknits for past 4 years or so and just bought Epic React flyknits to try. I put my shoes through about 10 hours of walking at work every day, installing flooring. Epic React is a narrower shoe, I had to size up half a size. Makes your feet look a bit bigger. It's narrower and longer. Huge difference between two is the sole, epic react is not all sliced up into bits like free runs and that was major reason I'm trying them out now. Often times we're working on new production homes with no concrete yet, just gravel and running in and out of the house to make board cuts you tend to pick up a ton of little gravel rocks. Then if you don't periodically clean them out, you can scratch the new floor up as you walk. Epic react has a solid shoe sole and also it's a bit thicker too. I didn't think I was gonna find a softer shoe than Free Runs, but these Epic Reacts are ridiculously soft, even with uncut bottom, whith a huge chunk of foam right under your heel.
When it comes to upper, Free Run flyknit is better IMO. It's more like a sock which is what I'm looking for when working on my feet for 10 hours a day. Epic React's upper is really close, but area starting at around ankle and going behind heel is made of a much harder and stiffer material. Possibly this is better support for running, at the cost of comfort, and on my case it's a negative since I don't actually use them for running. I only had Epic Reacts for a few days, so it's possible that they just need to break in for a bit to get as comfortable. Free Runs don't need any break in though. So upper goes to Free Runs with more sock like feel.

TLDR:
So, my personal tally but keep in mind I use these for work and home but don't actually run:
Bottom: Epic React - Softer and doesn't collect rocks, yet toes still bend easily like Free Runs.
Top Flyknit: Free Runs - More of a sock all around and very easy to put on without laces
Fit: Free Runs - Epic React runs narrow, have to size up half a size, makes shoe bigger and heavier than it has to be and it's still a bit tight on sides. Could be a good thing for runners for support though, dunno.
Overal Comfort and my pick so far: Free Runs by a hair. The upper being a bit more comfortable and matching my foot width better just makes it a bit more comfortable shoe for me currently, but I have a feeling Epic Reacts will break in over time and get more comfortable. My ideal shoe would be freeruns flyknits with epic react sole.

EDIT: Forgot to say this: Free Runs closely feel like you're wearing nothing at all. They're like a more compact version of epic react, very nimble and light, yet very comfortable. And while Epic React is a very comfortable shoe, and possibly more comfortable than free runs for people with narrow feet, there's no mistaking it, you got shoes on your feet. Bottom sole in some spots is probably double the thickness of free runs.

Are the heels of these shoes foldable or collapsible for packing in a carry-on? Most shoes have a firm heel so it's difficult to pack efficiently.

They're collapsible which is why I highly recommend flyknits vs regular. It's almost like a sock, very easy to put on without undoing shoelaces and if you don't even feel like doing that, you can just slide the foot in, collapse the back and wear them like slippers. Free run flyknits is my favorite shoe and the most comfortable I ever tried. Adidas ultraboost uncaged is my second favorite shoe and very close to this one, but then Adidas killed them off.

Perfect! Gonna order a pair. I know these are meant for short runs with a "free" feeling but has anyone used these for hiking on trails?

If you're hiking on more or less level path, these will work and be pretty comfortable. But for climbing rocks/cliffs and very uneven terrain, then these with the sock like upper just don't provide enough support, and your foot will be sliding all over the shoe sole, and you will eventually rip through the upper where your toes are. IMO they're great as long as there's no rough terrain.

I love these shoes, BUT, the little three prong designs on the sole create a suction cup effect when the shoes are damp, and sometimes even dry. When you walk on hard surfaces indoors, they can be quite loud as they stick and release. Just know this if you are, like, a Ninja or something.

how are these different from the Nike Free RN 2018?
They're identical, other than the flyknit.

How are these for wide feet? Usually have to order a half size up for narrower shoes.

These are the only regular width Nike shoes I can wear. I get a 15 in these and a 15 wide in Pegasus.

Just bought three pairs of these. https://www.nike.com/t/free-rn-20...942836-002 2017s were my favorite shoes ever. I still have 2 more pairs of 2017s in the box. They've lasted about 3 years with every other day use.

Great comfy Shoes! I keep buying them year after year. The previous version was more comfy and sold for $49..it's a bummer that there's no flyknit option below the current price anymore. I waited thanksgiving and Xmas last year and finally bought them at 67 pre tax in June.
